If you bought the game from steam, it should update you automatically.  If you bought the game off of Impulse or from Stardock directly, you need to run Impulse to update the game.  Then you will be able to play online.

These files are for modders.  As per the last line in the original post "all the sounds, movies, textures and exe's other than the convertdata's have been removed, and all files have been converted to text mode by the latest version of my textbin gui."  These cannot be used to update your game.

stant123 is correct, the REFERENCE files ARE for MODDERS and people that want to learn modding of sins ONLY.

if you have diplomacy/trinity 1.32 then the only way you could get the 1.34 IS the same way you got 1.32 i.e open impulse, check for updates, download and install said update.

what a *(^% pain in the ass.

Just getting 7DS running smoothly and 1.053 comes up and now menu is fubar... back to the (&*%^% drawing board for the menu...

Its an easy fix.  4 files.  Update your string for the missing ICO password recovery lines.  Copy over the new SteamMainMenuScreen.window file if you've made custom changes to the main menu and make those changes in this file as well, change the few lines from the existing MainMenuScreen.window file since the update buttons are now listed as true/false or just delete it from your mod if you haven't made any custom changes to it, and add in the password recovery section to the Screen-FrontEnd.brushes file.  You'll be right back where you were before the update.

Well, maybe it is my fault... i was complaining that some button in the menu don't work ( by example the "update" button )... and next day, there is a patch who correct everything who was wrong with the menu...

Be sure of one thing, soon, there will be a bunch of patch... remember the pre-trinity periode when a lot of the trinity improvement was added to sins and ent... well, the 2 last patch was pre-rebellion thing...

With Rebellion, it will be forge tool 4... mean that map will need to be version 4 too... will not surprise me that particle files will need to be updated too, along with .fx files ( shader )...

well, modding rebellion will probably be safe to do after it's out 6 months.

Again, thanks you many modders for doing StarClad's job of pointing out particular changes.  Just trying to figure:

Update your string for the missing ICO password recovery lines.
and add in the password recovery section to the Screen-FrontEnd.brushes file.

7DS version of Screen-FrontEnd.brushes and what's in reference files 'MATCH' after comparing them in notepad ++

Is there a way I can plead with anyone to re-up these on dropbox, or any service -OTHER- than filefactory? all filefactory gives me is half hour waits, between several hour stretches of 'no available slots.' I've been trying for -three days- to get all these files...

Thanks for doing this and keeping the thread updated as well.  I had learned how to use your tools to convert the files at one point, but coming back from a long period of not playing or to a new expansion I'd find that I had forgotten the process.  This thread has saved me from a lot of hair pulling, I appreciate it!

Awesome, thanks Xathos!  That's all the files I ever need, I just like to play around with ship speeds/command points and stuff, maybe add an effect to a research subject, but nothing big. (I think I spend more time restarting games trying to get it right more than I ever really do playing it, but I enjoy it :P)  I didn't expect anyone to upload the .txt versions so quickly after release, I'm happily going to get to modding now.

I had the day off and I needed them for my mod.  Figured I might as well share them.

1.  All it did was give people extra time if they didn't work today, and were anticipating the release (and if they couldn't figure out how to convert).  I was one of those people.  I was able to complete a light version of my project by the time you posted.  I'm not trying to steal your thunder or anything.  I was looking to contribute, and did.  I was going to put it in a different thread, but that would be redundant since people usually check in here for ref. files.  It would of drawn more attention to it, but I wasn't looking to do that.

2.  I'm not sure how good the download is for dropbox, but mediafire doesn't cap their speed.  You can usually get those files in seconds.  I do know for sure that Filefactory is shit and unreliable.  I use to have an account with them.

3.  There is no "n" in my name.  It'd sound like shit if it did.

ex athos, sorry about the "n" , but my thought that I had seen an "n" in your name so used one.

regarding the file upload locations, I used to use mediafire till they LOCKED me out of my account with them, and the only reason that I use the filefactroy is because of their uploader, and as far as I know the biggest issue with dropbox is the 2gb limit for all files being shared.

I have added the release version of the refs for rebellion, AND removed the betas in the OP.

I recall somebody on this board doing the same thing before.  May have been you. :zoomba:

Sounds like a support issue, not a service issue (unless you're doing pirated uploads and somebody reported you).  I've never had a problem with them and I use a fake e-mail to access with if I do uploads they don't like.

the only files I had uploaded to them were my modding utilities, reference files and some mods that I had permission for the uploading of from the modders. so in my opinion it is a screwup BY mediafire and I will NOT support a mob of useless sheep that will lock an account  for no good reason.

, and will upload as soon as I finish converting.

There are a few other free sites that don't cap their download speed.  I ran across another one awhile back but I don't remember their name (hellshare, maybe?).  Jumbofiles is pretty good, too.  They have a high cap on their download speed.  My service of choice is Netload.  Like I said earlier, I can't say anything for dropbox.  Don't/barely ever used it.

Just don't use Rapidshare (capped at 50k) and we'll be fine. :digichet:

Greetings harpo,

I have been using your converter about since the time of its original release and really appreciate all of your efforts as I have mentioned before. With the latest version of your converter, which EXE do I use to convert Rebellion data? I assume I use the "Sinstextbinner" and it  chooses the convertdata accordingly. I don't see one labeled Rebellion. Also, do the 1.02 files require an update to the application? Thanks in advance.

UPDATE: I unzipped the .rar multiple times and found that there was no rebellion convert data .exe. I copied the version found in my Rebellion folder to the utility folder and still get the same "not responding" error after selecting the path. I found another post with a similar issue. In my case, the file path absolutely DOES have "Rebellion" in the path. Again, thanks in advance.

You can get it to work with a bit of a work around. If you copy the ConvertData_Rebellion.exe and put it 3 times in the Progam Files(86)>StardockGames>SoaSE folder in place of the OriginalSins, Entrenchment & Diplomacy ConvertData. I think if an appropriate ConvertData is not found with the Utility it defaults to the Old Game folder's Covertdata's in the StardockGames Folder, so by replacing them with the Rebellion ConvertData does the trick.

You may want to put the originals in another folder somewhere so you can put them back latter if needed.

I tried it. It didn't work. Thank you for replying, though.

Did you rename the 3 Rebellion convertData's to ConvertData_ OriginalSins.exe, ConvertData_Entrenchment.exe & CovertData_Diplomacy.exe?

Sorry if I was a bit unclear on that, it should work. It does for me.
