How to skin my own Windows Start Button

Hi Everyone !

 

I would like to know how to make my own Windows Start Button for SKS or WB, i would like to use it for e.g. with other skins, actualy edit skin in SKS and then put my own Button.

I think this not bad first step for start in skinning, what do you think?

Is there any Tutorial for this ?

You know, which size has to be a Button or what kind of file has to be....and....and...and....

Just open the skin in SKS and save the startbutton (Glow as well it there is one) as a png to a folder somewhere. Then just start playing around with it...but make sure to save the original in case you mess up. I frequently mod the startbutton when someone uses the Windows flag on it since I hate those things. It's really not hard to do. And make sure that once you have what you think will work that you convert it back to a .tga file. :grin:

And make sure that once you have what you think will work that you convert it back to a .tga file.

IMO; it is best to import the png image into SKS and let it convert it to the required tga file.

That will work if all you want to do is change the Windows 7 startbutton...but I don't think that will work for other skins.

 

IMO; it is best to import the png image into SKS and let it convert it to the required tga file.

I'm sure that works as well. I just convert it to a .tga from photoshop and then just send it to the skin file it's for. Works perfectly. ;)

Thx , for the answers....

I tried windows orb changer, but explorer started to beeing much slower then usual.

It is nice program, but i wanna change windows start button in SKS.

Basically....after you save the startbutton you want to change..zoom in on it to make sure you have the width of it the same as the one you want to use...or at least centered within the same width. After you send the altered file to the skin your doing this to you'll be able to tell if everything is centered or not. Just play around with it and I'm sure you'll figure it out.
