First of all,

Welcome to the site! ^_^

Second of all, you're not an idiot.  The whole thing can be pretty overwhelming at first but it's actually pretty easy once you get started.

All you have to do is first download desktopx if you haven't already. Here is a link:

https://www.stardock.com/products/desktopx/downloads.asp

Once you've done that, and installed it on your computer, launch the program called "desktopx builder"

Click the button called "load a desktop" to select from some preloaded themes.

to download more themes, just go here:

https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?libid=31

once you download a theme, you can doubleclick it to launch it with desktopx or you can go to that button again and browse for it on your computer.

Remeber, these themes are made by users just like you or me, so always remember to thank someone for allowing you to download their theme.

hope that helps!

Ps. desktopx documentation, can be found here:

https://www.stardock.com/products/desktopx/documentation

After I install that, it closes right away, and I cant do anything.

Hi,

Could you be a bit more specific please?

after you install what? desktopx?

and do you mean it closes right away after you open desktopx or that it closes afer you install it?

or are you talking about something else entirely?

Please tell us, what version of windows are you running?

What version of DesktopX are you running?

Did you install this DesktopX through Impulse?

After you installed DesktopX, find the shortcut and double click it, it should load and allow you to choose a theme. If you have downloaded a theme, find it and double click it, it should load.

Hope this helps. You can help us help you by giving us the above information.

What type of theme are you wanting... Windowblinds?  DesktopX ?

You will need a different program to run each.  You can download free versions here. https://www.stardock.com/

Is it even DesktopX you're trying to use?

Tyler:

List your OS, the software you are talking about and whether it's a free or paid for program. Also, list any and all security software.

You post you have a problem. So do what we're asking you to do in order to help you, or just let the post die.

DesktopX already comes with several objects, widgets, and themes for you to use. They can be found by right-clicking on the DesktopX icon in the system tray, selecting Configure DesktopX, and choosing either Import Objects or Load a Desktop. You will be presented with a list of objects, widgets and themes to choose from, or you can browse for one not listed.

Check out the DesktopX section in the WinCustomize Wiki.
