Question about the content of the cancelled micro-expansion.

As we all know, initially, there were three micro-expansions planned. Now, after the release of diplomacy, it is clear  that the last one was cancelled.

Would it be possible for developers to revel the general theme and features of  the unreleased add-on and give us some information about  the future of the franchise?

Thank you in advance for all insights.

I suspect that there simply never was any previously planned content for the third micro-expansion.  My guess is that Stardock and Ironclad at one time agreed in principle that it would be a good idea to produce the micro-expansions for business reasons and that they would figure out what content to add later on.

As of now we are all in the dark about what they plan to do next and it's possible that even Stardock and Ironclad have not decided what they want to work on next.  A larger non-micro campaign expansion for the single player crowd (99.5% of all Sins players)?  A Sins-2?  A completely different land-based 4X-RTS game that uses the Sins engine?

Sins of a Solar City. An sci-fi RPG set in an Advent city where the character helps to uncover a human conspiracy to enslave the sub-race through diplomacy. On the way many interesting characters and places are talked to and visted including Commander Adammaie the local Advent millitary command who will join your team and is a romance option (which will be lesbian only since your advent and males are worthless).

Gameplay will involve moving around the super fast tram network to old and forgotten parts of the futuristic city where many dangers lay in wait. You will have to defend your self with real time first or third person combat against many enemy types in a revolutionary squad based combat system that has massive zoom levels that can zoom right into a hair folical on an enemys face before shooting his head off.

Perorder bounses include a t-shirt that says "I made peace with my Sins." on the front and "And now she gives me a discount!" on the back. Also includes full sized poster of Commander Adammaie in a swim suit and the actual in game swim suit IN GAME for you to dress her up in.

Rated IW for I Wish.

Leisure Suit Vasari.. with red hot chicks for every day of the week, but make sure none of them find out about the others!  Revolutionary squad-based combat- and most of the development budget squandered on 'What is love?'.

I have never seen the comment by the developer or publisher that indicated there will be three micro-expansions.  The lack of any concrete information means that even if the hypothetic third expansion pack did hit the drawing board, we will never know what ideas (if any) were brought up.  I strongly suspect it didn't even get past that phase, meaning there was probably never any consensus even among the developers as to what the theme of the third expansion should be.

"Ironclad has two additional micro-expansions in development as well. One of which adds new diplomacy features to the game and another that will add new technologies and ships. "

It seems the cancelled expansion was going to add more military technologies and a bigger variety of ships.

Sins of a Solar Empire: Rise of the Space Ponies

After aeons of war, famine, death and destruction, the time has come to once and for all put a stop to the seemingly endless cycle of violence.  For ages uncounted, forces have worked in the shadows to attain this goal.  But for all of their machinations, they met with failure again and again.  The time has come for action!

The time has come to make the world a more peaceful place.

A happier place.

A pink...er place.

Perhaps you've asked yourselves who exactly the Vasari are fleeing?  Maybe you've wondered what terrifying force could drive such powerful beings to the brink.  It is, at long last, time to find out.

Sins of a Solar Empire: Rise of the Space Ponies was meant to be the micro expansion that would make the critically acclaimed Sins of a Solar Empire, one of the hottest RTS titles of the last few years, more accessible and open to a completely new gaming audience.

Tween Girls.

The fourth faction, The Space Ponies, would provide the player with a completely new, alternative way to experience 4X RTS gameplay.

Proposed Features:

  • Use Rainbow Power to end battles before they even start
  • Invite foreign diplomats to your homeworld for slumber parties
  • Accessorize your capital ships with stickers, glitter and disco lights
  • Anti-Meanie-Head Technology: Multiplayer filtering systems that keep all those meanie-heads, dumb-faces and other bad people out of your online game.  Also includes flags to exclude all cootie-ridden boys.

Unfortunately, it was discovered after some early prototyping, that the Sins engine could not achieve adequate levels of cuteness, adorableness, or down-right pinkness to bring this vision to life.

I had a feeling in my guts, that it is a bad idea to ask those questions. Let this thread die.
