Need a Game Suggestion

from Elemental Forums

Dwarf Fortress has me hooked... but still wanting more.  I am looking for a complex resource-gathering and management game featuring exploration (random world generator preferred).  Obviously, combat is another worthwhile component to this equation.

FYI, MoM and Civ IV rate amongst my favorite games of all time, just to give you a bit more of an idea of what I dig.

Any suggestions to sate this hunger??

I found the Bay 12 forums a good place to find decent games like this, and that's where I found Aurora:  http://aurorawiki.pentarch.org/index.php?title=Main_Page

It's a sci-fi 4X game, no graphics, extremely deep and complex.  It allows you to design and build your own ships from scratch, and like DF it's quite sandboxy.  For example I created a game with no enemies just so I could get to grips with exploration, and set about creating ships to mine the solar system and terraform Mars.  I really like it.

Oh and it's free, of course.  And not without bugs.

Yeah if you haven't played GalCiv 2 then that is the game you want.
