It does kinda bug me that earlier everyone was all "Ooh, Xer0, you HAVE to ask her out, you have to tell her how you feel! You're totally in love with this girl! Why won't you make a move?!?" but now that the whole thing has come crashing down, everyone's telling me to just suck it up and move along.

Yes Xer07. It might be kinda difficult for you to understand it, but here's how I thought of the whole thing:
I dont know about the others, but I really thought that Mishayla would reject you (sorry, but thats what I thought), and then you would have no other choice but to move on.
Now, initially I started saying (altough I didnt get much of your attention), that you should probably try to let her go and move on. But then I realized that you would NOT do that, no matter what I said, so, the best way to do it, was to actually come crashing down. So....I went along, because at the slight chance that she wouldnt reject you, then you'd be a winner, but if I was correct, then you would be able to finally move on. So it was a WIN-WIN anyway.
Also, I dont claim that I am always right and wise, and that my advice is awesome. Since you ask for advice from people who dont even know you personally, and you TAKE that advice, then that means you accept the possibility that they might be wrong.
Moreover, I remember saying to you many many times (please dont make me dig up these ancient posts), that you shouldnt ask for advice from ANYONE, especially from people online, who dont even know your last name. I remember saying to you many times, trying to make you understand, that only YOU are the best person to decide whats best for you - you and only you.
I didnt say these things so bluntly, but in a nicer way, but you get the point.
And it seems I was wrong about 1 thing though, right? Even though you did get rejected (kinda), you still wanna be around her to protect her..... 
Oh well, I guess its your choice, and a very noble one, I might say.
Because you see, its all about choice. If you want to be miserable, but keep your crush safe and happy, then gotta do what you gotta do. But if you wanna make yourself happy, put yourself above other people, then you know what to do.
