Blue Screen Errors

I'd be interested in the same thing, m1. It's been happening to me when I try to save pictures... the ACP_Mismatch. I do know my driver (HP Video Card) is not up to date because HP hasn't updated it. Would switching out my Graphics card fix that?

This is driving me nutty.  Since I don't know what's causing it, and I've got no other programs on that drive except System Mechanic Pro, I'm going to use iolo Drive Scrubber to wipe it completely clean using the boot cd option and reinstall Win7.  I'm going to disable Windows Update for a few days and see what happens.  I'll create a restore point upon install and then load my drivers and create another restore point before I do any kind of program installs.  I'm going to be pissed if the hd is the problem.  It's not even a year old.

Start/ All Programs/ Accessories: right-click Command Prompt: Run as Administrator.

Type: sfc /scannow

Note to karma slut: HP doesn't make graphic cards.

Did it and it found corrupt files and restored them. Hope it fixes the problem. Time will tell...thanx, yrag. Hope you're doing well.

I erred when I said HP Vid card. They put out the drivers specific to HP but never updated them for 7. Using the nVidia driver (most updated) for some time now.

Luckily, I didn't have a chance to act on my plan last night.  I'll try this suggestion from the guru and report back.

It usually reboots quicker than I can get all the info...I'd have to find the dumps to get all of it.

It started after the most recent updates for Win7.  Like I said, I re-installed Win7, and let it update.  The only other program on the HD was System Mechanic Professional.  I didn't really give it a chance to see if it would happen without the updates, which is why I was going to try a re-install again since I'm pretty much fresh.

However, yesterday I ran System Mechanic's registry fix and it found 399 errors!  It fixed them all according to the program.  I haven't experienced one since then, but I've not done much on here since then either.  I guess I'll wait and see.  The 399 errors really surprised me though...

I'm not a fan of System Mechanic....for what that's worth.

Forget the dumps. Open Control Panel/ System/ Advanced System Settings/ Advanced/ Startup and Recovery "Settings"/ Un-check 'Automatically Restart'. Next time it blues, read it.

Well, in being around here since 2005 and seeing how much you know, that's worth a lot to me.  I've been using SM since about that same time though and have never had any problems with it.  Is there something better that you'd be willing to recommend?  If I'm wasting my money with SM, I'd like to know.  I'll get the info you asked for as soon as I can.

Same here.  I'm always open to this type of thing, and thought I had found a great tool with SMP.

2 things....in no particular order...

1- sometimes it has a mind of it's own. If you use all the apps (and you paid for them), it has a tendency to do things it shouldn't in the ever-changing Windows world.... and it's not alone. Many apps have a large array of applications these days to the point of being bloatware, but in the final analyze, less is better. With JV16 I use the the registry cleaner .....period. 

2- With the advent of Win 7, there's just not a whole lot you need ( that includes even a Registry cleaner). Whether you like Microsoft/Windows or not, this is not your Grandparents operating system. If you want your system running optimally.....stop fucking with it. 

I had SMP too, munkeh...just uninstalled it. Using the JV16...cleaned out the registry, and compacted it. Very down to earth and user friendly.

I didn't do anything to the registry...always afraid of that...except what JV16 said to do, and since it makes a backup, I've lost that "Oh crap...what am I doing?" feeling.

Good advice.  I've never let SMP do anything on it's own, no tasks setup or anything.  I originally bought it because I was having problems with an old computer and it seemed like a good package deal.  The tuneup features bundled with virus protection and firewall.  Now with 7, they dropped the firewall feature and a few other things.  Still use it for the tuneup stuff and the virus protection.  I just kept renewing it because it's always worked well for me.  But I do find myself using it less since upgrading to Win7.  Maybe it's time to explore something else.

Un-install and re-install your graphic drivers (hide any Win 7 graphic updates).

The Ricoh onboard controller and 02Micro reader are problematic. If it keeps blue screening, disable them and see if the blues stop.
