Spike,

Right click on My Computer go to Properties then Advanced System Settings then Performance then Settings. Make sure you have your system set up as ... Adjust for best appearance.

1. Make sure uxsms service is running Control Panel >Administration Tools > Services

click on the name "Desktop Windows Session Manager" Service status should be "Started"

2. Right click on Computer select Properties> Advanced System Setting go to Advanced tab click "Settings" in Performance box select "Adjust for best appearance".

Some more information, what is the dream you are trying to run?

What video card do you have?

After you made the changes that Doc suggested did you reboot the computer?  Always a good thing todo after changing settings.

Right click on your "computer" icon in the start menu and choose properties. What is you Windows Experience score?

The dream in trying to run is called Desktop Earth

the videocard is a Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family

and i just rebooted the computer and i get the same error

the error says "The DWM does not seem to be active at this time on your machine. Applying the windows Areo theme or any windowsblinds theme (if windowsblinds is installed), should enable the DWM if your machine is capable of running it."

The experience score is unrated

Someone will come along and verify but I don't think you have the resources to run Dreams.

The experience score is unrated

That's your problem.

DWM will not run unless you have a Windows Experience Index Graphics score of 2.0 or better for your video card. No score is the same as a low score.

For more about Windows Exprience scores click here.

If you update your score and it is 2 or above, you should have no problems running dreams. (You should also turn Aero on as it will look a heck of alot better.)

You may want to visit Intels website and download the newest drivers for your video card as well.

Download them to your desktop, double click on them to apply. They will copy into your dream directory so once they are applied, you can delete them from your desktop.

Be sure to visit my gallery, I have a few that you can download.

This is from memory,

Right click on your desktop and choose personalization, window color and apperance, enable transparancy.

This is in all versions of Vista except Basic.
