WinCustomize 2K10 Beta Feedback

Normally I’d send these privately but since WinCustomize is a community site, I figured I’d make my report on the forum.

Where comments start there should be a separator labeled “Comments”

Article view still uses evil old code that isn’t friendly on Chrome and is just generally flaky.

Safari has monster padding on the left and under the text editor-

I'm not seeing any of the buttons on the editor for skin comments, just a plain textarea. FF 3.5.7.

In the galleries I'm seeing blank spots. As in...I'll see 3 previews going across but on the next row I see 2 blank spots and 1 preview...then the next row is 2 previews a 1 blank spot.

As posted in another thread : I don't think it to be very clever to let a site that has so much content have a fixed width. I think WC should really go for a fluid width layout.

can we PRETTY PLEASE be able to customize our own site, as in perhaps have a background, and change colours of bars ect, and font.......it would make our own page more personal and homey........ please consider this, so many sites have this, I think we should too.... xx

Looks like you're using a wider font than the site has specified, try restore to normal font settings.

I suggested possibilities like Google/Yahoo/MSN depending on Subscriber status...frogboy answered "Don't know yet" (or similar) in the "Goodbye Old Friend" thread.

I thought that was discussed/mentioned by I.D. in a thread last year.

If thats the problem I'll pass...I prefer the font I'm using and it works fine on the current site and everywhere else. I just don't understand why everywhere else I don't get these problems. They must not know what they're doing.  :-"

And it only does this when I go to the OD gallery...click on one of my themes...then click my nick to see more of my themes. Other than that it doesn't do this.

Here's another shot of it. You can see the dates are breaking up for some reason...which doesn't happen when I do the above,

Kestral: please remove the {if "webgizmos" do whacky shit} code.  I think he's learned his lesson. O:)

Ack! So....Much.......Pain! :P But like I said....works just fine every...where...else...why not here.  o_O Heh? Heh?  *_*

As a web developer, I'm going to have to say that the width of the element containing text is set to a certain size; when the font is wider than expected it overflows to the next line.  I think setting the overflow css property to hidden should fix it.

I'm just giving Giz a hard time. ;P

Maybe if the thumbnails had more whitespace between them to let them breathe a little, then it would work better. Sure would look better as well. Or do what PurrBall says too. :-"

Looks great - I really love this new design. Very friendly. :)

@WebGizmos: I think that it's only really a startup thing - mot people will be used to 'Explore' after a while. I picked it up very quickly, and I think it's great.

No doubt...but it would just make more sense...assuming this is where people are coming for skins...that the galleries of all things should be more obvious. But that's just me. :-"

I agree. It took a while for my wife to figure it out, and she's usually pretty adept at web navigating.

Maybe changing the menu label from "Explore" to "Downloads" or "Skins" or something along that line.

It would be nice if there were an obvious link to the WC wiki somewhere. I can't find one on the current site (could've sworn I saw it somewhere). I think more people would utilize the resources and contribute to it if it was more accessable.

It's at the bottom of every page.

[Feature request]

"Site Map" at the bottom of the page.

[Feature Request]

"Smack Giz" somewhere convenient.
