delete shortcut without deleting item ?

hey

great app

fell in love with it right away

just wanna ask, can i delete an item from the objeckdock bar without actually deleting it from my computer?

this is weird action and dangerous

is this a freeware thing? is the paid version (plus) letting us select whether we wana delelte the shorcut or the actual folder?

Only the shortcut will be deleted.

Removing an item from the dock does not delete the program itself. To remove an item from your dock, right click the item and select Remove Entry; or, if you have Lock Dragging disabled, you can remove the item by just dragging it off the dock. You can add it again later if you wish. :)

no

if i drag a folder onto the dock it doesnt create a shortcut , and if i right click on what i think is a shorcut and select delete, i delete the folder from it's original normal windows place and not what i would hope to bea  shorcut

programs and other stuff maybe creates a shorcut, but to my experience not folders

I'm not an expert on Objectdock, but to add a specific user created folder, you open the Objectdock Properties box, Select Docklets, Shortcut and then Add This Docklet To The Dock, it will open the new shortcut box. Now type the full path to the folder into the Links box, then click OK. Now your folder shortcut is added to the dock. If you want to add lots of your folders then when you get to the Links box bit, just click the down arrow and select the built-in folder that contains your folders, e.g. My Documents, Favourites etc. Then enable the Show Folder As A Menu box. Then whenever you click your Folder icon on the dock it will pop up a menu of the sub-folders. By the way always remove dock items via Remove Entry, dont use Delete.  Hope this is of some use to you. :)

It is a shortcut, the right click context menu in Objectdock has the same options as right clicking the folder in windows itself. Delete is one of them, it is for the source folder. Easiest way to get rid of a shortcut is just drag it off the dock.

thanks

i know how to do all those things you said

im not an expert either but i have gone though some of the options

im just asking about this because a) it's an easier way to add shorcuts to the dock (which are not actual shorcuts, i now see)

and b- besides being easier its just more intuitive

i guess because being a windows user i got used to easy drag and drop

actually the thing isnt deleting then

its adding folders to the dock

we shuold be able to choose to use it as a shorcut bar or as a power bar that treats its icons as the regular windows folders, or have an option for each icon.

i dunno

maybe im just not used to treating bar icons as actual files and not shorcuts yet

either way, im purchasing this when i get the chance

They are shortcuts, if the right click menu for them only had ObjectDock options instead of ObjectDock and the options for the source folder it would not be very useful.
