Hey folks, what going on in the community?

Hey folks, what going on in the community?

Was just wondering what is happening in and with the community.

Used to be lots of threads of what was happening at the various sites in the the community, now, doesn't seem like anthing is going on.  There are two Community Projects going on in the here, one older one and one for a Valentine's Day Theme.  I think a contest just ended for a Winter Dream but haven't read who won it (or I missed it).

Is this just a sign of computer customization showing it's age?

Is the Win 7 interface that good?

Is this just a normal slow down of activity at the begining of the year?

Has Troll Thumping Day been thrown to the curb?

Have I turned into a whinner?

Will interest in the community ever be like it was?

What can be done to bring life back into here and the community at large?

Lets hear you thoughts about it.

Excelent post in my mind Po.  I, like BoXXi, have to agree 100%.  One thing though, the Master level has always been here.  The only difference is now the Masters can sell their skins.

New level - I'd like to see a new level, something like a "veterans" level for people who aren't "master skinners", but are still valuable members of the community.

Here's some ideas (more humorous than serious ;) )

Padawan- for apprentices in the making

Sith- for those who cross over to the Dark Side

I knew that, I just keep forgetting it.

My memory just isn't what

I'm going to watch from the sidelines for awhile my friend.  I don't want to miss too much and would like to learn some of W7 desktops using Windowblinds.

I just entered Hospice care a few weeks ago and have had a terrible adjustment.  It is better care than I was getting on the outside only with a shorter outcome date.  I LOVE you all and everything you do.  Stay inagreement with each other as much as possible, and drink up ever draft of life.

.... Re 'Power User'....once upon a time...in the dawn of skinning it was all within the realm of the 'power user'.....the person actually willing to break his/her OS....just so it might look more interesting, or work in a clever/novel way.

There were precious few "What do I do now?" questions and more of the "How the heck did you do that?".

Skinners [and users] both had dirty fingernails....and sleeves rolled up.

These days it's a bit more 'us and them', and it's the [more numerous these days] them that ask the 'what do I do now?' questions. ...

Hey, Jafo! Yep, I remeber those days. Everything done by hand, .. no skin studios or whatever, just be ready to reinstall OS every other month. While I visit the galleries and forums relatively frequently I don't post, but your statement revived those memories. I remeber skinnerz like treetog, dangeruss, adni, Mike and others who use to almost weekly post new blinds skins on skinz.org and then here. Brad and you frequently commented on our creations and that was very cool (and most likely you still do). Since then the community here has grown beyond the most optimistic predictions. I think that back in 1999 or 2000 even Brad couldn't imagine such a growth. Compared to back then with a smaller, maybe closer and better connected skinnerz, today the community seems to be large, maybe less connected, but still moving forward and producing quality. When I look at some of my work from that early period (like this one or this one -- BTW, for some reason my skins don't connect to my user name, only this one does), I see that the new talented creatives have taken charge and really produced some high quality stuff that is better looking and/or more complete and bug free. So, I'm not afraid or doubtful about the community future. Anywho, keep up with the great work you guys do.
