[Help] Windows 7 tweaks: Remove Homegroup and resize taskbar thumbnail previews?

I recently installed Windows 7 Pro x64 and I had a few questions about tweaking some things. On Vista I could easily add/remove links from the nav pane in explorer, but now there's this Homegroup item I just can't get rid of. I tried this reg hack and it worked at first, but now it's back. Is there a more permanent solution to get rid of it? A bit redundant with Network being down there, and stupid MS for not letting us remove junk. <_<

Also, in Vista I used the Ave ThumbnailResizer to increase the size of the taskbar thumbnail previews, but it doesn't work in 7. Anyone else know of a way to do it?

Thanks. :)

To remove the Homegroups section, open services.msc and disable the HomeGroup services.

I found the services, but will that affect my laptop on the network? Are they separate things? </n00b> ^_^'

All it does is disable the Homegroup functionality, networking should still be fine (it is for me at least)

Of course, be sure to record the previous setting in case things don't work right.

Guessing I'm supposed to reboot or something because I stopped them, closed and reopened explorer and it's still there.

Well...it didn't work. Stubborn thing.
