Reid - The Perfect Example of Liberal Double-Standards

Reid - The Perfect Example of Liberal Double-Standards

Many of you might have missed this story since it was "released" over the weekend, typical when it's something involving a democrats. Harry Reid stuck his foot in his mouth again, but this time with a racist twist!
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) apologized today for referring to President Barack Obama as "light skinned" and "with no Negro dialect" in private conversations during the 2008 presidential campaign.
Just imagine for one second if Reid was a republican. He would be forced to resign, but since Reid is a democrat the media ignores it, and he won't take much heat from it.

Notice how nobody here mentioned any US news organization by name? That is until you with your Fox-phobia.

itis called talkign points, and the inabliity to do any critical thinking on one's own.  A shame really.  No matter how many times you try to explain to the brain dumb, they still cannot tell the difference between commentary and NEWS.  I guess that is why they don't think any news is biased.  They think olberman and matthews are news reporters.

Same tired old cry; the poor republicans are always getting picked on and bullied. The fact is it's just another example of a Biden like gaff. Reid, as well as Trent should know better.

Truth is a defense only when your name is followed by a D.  Oh, well.

Leave Reid to his constituents.  I have a feeling they'll take care of the problem.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Biden a Democrat also? Maybe I missed something here but wouldn't that say something about the Democrats? I guess it's OK to fuck up, so long as you a Democrat.

I'll throw a party if they do.

Its not really surprising, Byrd got away with using the full blown N-word on Fox news and nothing happened to him. At this point,  Harry Reid could probably come out in blackface saying "mammy" without getting into trouble.

Shouldn't that statement of yours Steven tell you something?  Same Tired old?  As in how many times do we have to put up with this mess from the democrats before the rank and file get tired of their new masters and dump them?

But I guess sacraficing liberty for safety is part of the democrat platform these days.

You know what's really ridiculous, though? Black people do speak differently than whites, 8C  and we're making an issue of how they don't; makiing a politician, like him or not, apologize for telling the truth. All because it's not PC. It's stupid.

Tell me you can't tell the difference--99 times out of 100--when you answer the phone, and hear the other person speak. You can usually tell black or white, just by the voice. I mean, even more, I don't know, "classy" blacks, like Maya Angelou, Bill Cosby, Thomas Sowell...you can tell.

The tonal quality, the cadence, certain vocal mannerisms....there is a difference. To deny it is wrong.

Call me a racist; I don't care. It's the truth. Saying there isn't is just plain PC, and PC is not logical; it's also oppression and censorship.

I have to disagree. I know plenty of blacks that sound like another person. Some people choose to use Ebonics which in my opinion is a lazy way of speaking. I'll ask you this though RW, have you sat and listened to young white kids lately? The rap culture and Ebonics are rubbing off on them more than good grammar and speech habits are. I is not kidding.

The thing I notice is the liberals keep ignoring the double-standard.  Is there anyone here that thinks if Reid was a republican this situation would be all over the media?

You all are so easily distracted. This has nothing to do with race, or being PC. those statements were released for one reason only. when Harry loses the election he and all the democrats will be able to scream that he was smeeared by the right. if not for our mean attacks he would have been re-elected in a landslide. THen they have justification to do the same and claim that they are only doing what we did. forget that they have been doing since Nixon was Vice-president.

It is strange that i have to tell people that i am black, because when they listen to me on the phone or read my words they assume i am white.

You really think Harry was playing Halperin as far back as that?  I suppose it's possible, but seems unlikely to me.

I agree with Nitro.  Blacks speak differently between each other just as whites do.  A good ole boy from texas does not sound like a Yonker, nor does a black from Wall Street sound like one from the ghetto.  It is a matter of laziness as Nitro says, as well as region.  Walter E. Williams sounds very much philadelphia, and none like ebonics.

It will be nice when they just assume your are a southerner, or American, and your color is irrelevant.

I am not African-American, I am American. I don't like racial terms. it is one thing I learned way back in the 60's if you make yourself different you see differences. Irish-Americans, German-Americans, Japanese-Americans unite! Become American!

Bravo, I agree. I see myself as an American, I don't need to hyphenate myself.

I'm of Hispanic roots but I'm an American. I have always considered myself an American and the day I travel outside the US and would happen to break a law in some foregn country, they will address me as the American not the Puerto Rican.

My son likes using those dam ebonics words and sometimes it drives me nuts. I have no problem telling him and reminding him how silly he sounds. My wife use to talk that way to when I first met her but now she barely talks like that, except maybe with old friends. I do my best to make sure he does talk properly around family members.

I'd bet bottom dollar any US citizen that found themselves in trouble in another country would be banging on the US Embassy's door, screaming that they are an American. It's funny the hyphenation only means something here in the US.

I am in no way fully cognizant of all cultural idiocyncracies in all countries, but it seems to me that the North American hemisphere (specifically the French and English settled areas) are the only ones that practice hyphenation.  I guess we have it so easy, we have time to complain about stupid things like what 2 mongrels got together and bred us.
