Sins of the Prophets [MOD]

Sins of the Prophets [MOD]

The Halo mod for SoaSE

THE YEAR IS 2543, nine years before the end of the Human-Covenant war. Humanity and the Covenant are in the thick of their conflict. The UNSC is constantly being pushed back deeper into their own territory.

For now, the flood sleeps, the sentinels continue their age old work, and the genocide continues.

Will you defend the remaining UNSC colonies to the death or guide the Covenant to certain victory?

It isn't about realism, it is about staying true to Halo canon.  In Halo canon most fights between the UNSC and Covenant basically involved firing lines of vessels much like musketeers during the 16th and 17th centuries.

I was positive they moved around quite a bit... If I remember correctly from the books I've read the UNSC would employ a hit and run tactic so some of the ship could actually survive...

The Pillar of Autumn looks like it was plucked right out of Halo.

I have returned! With pictures!

I just got done putting in the CCS (Covenant Capital Ship), which has appeared in nearly every Halo game so far.

However, people begged me to be able to field large amounts of CCSs at once, so I have a workaround. There is also a cruiser variant that is, admittadly, not as well armed. But you can route enemy force with CCSs en masse!

Also, I finally replaced the various default weapons on the covenant ships with the standard Covenant pulse laser.

I think my beta testers will also enjoy a increase in Covenant weapons damage, so now they are more than a match for the UNSC.

They did move around, infact they even had huge mushroom ships that were used specificly as a shield from enemy fire, having no weapons of their own.

Well yeah, this looks awesome....my only problem is that I can't play it.  When can I expect to be able to download it?

In large fleet battles with Newtonian physics, coordinating the movements of all those ships would be a nightmare.  Also, the Cradle-class vessel was used to shield the UNSC warships because they were stuck in a defensive wall formation over the planet and could not move, otherwise the Covenant would be able to do whatever they wanted to the planet.

The individual ships in large Covenant fleet near Delta-Halo performed many manuvers in order to gain advantage over each other once the civil war started.

I also believe that any competent Ship Captains would be able to maneuver individually or in small goups without any input from the admiral of their fleet and still stay coordinated. And I do beleive that vast majority of captians from both UNSC and Convenant are extremely competent.

In Halo battles, ships moved themselves into posistions that that gave them the most advantage. Using dynamic movement would not be condusive to this as all the ships continue to fly in circles and make passes at each other, which is very un-Halo lile.  Using the normal static movement during battles allows for relativly static battle lines, which is prominant in Halo, and allows individual ships the opportunity to make manuevers if the need arises.

Makes sense, though I do wish the ship AI had the intelligence to make those manuevers on their own.

I Return to THIS? Jesus Canada, your work brings tears to my eyes. Perhaps you can let me in on this later after i get settled back in 7DS?

Hey guys,

I'm back with the Gorgon class destroyer, an older ship and a relic of past conflicts that is being re-used by the UNSC due to dwindling fleet resources. It was one of the first ships to have a MAC aboard before they became standard armament on UNSC vessels, and comes heavily armored. It is also a bit larger than both modern frigates and destroyers.

Be on the lookout for the 3rd and final variant of the destroyers for the UNSC, coming soon.

wouldnt it be kind of a twist to make the flood a mix of the UNSC and covenant, just a thought! looks good thus far.

so how far along is the mod? i wonder if we could get an estimate of how soon we'll see it.  Not like a date or anything just like perhaps a month, three months, or a year? or longer?

How long do these mods usually take to put together?

I'm sure probably awhile seeing how its such good work being done so far, and its so extensive.  It must take awhile with only a few people working on it.

Aww.. canadaman... why can't you just release what you have? please? I want to play!

Video was cool. Especially liked the MAC effects.

Yeah, it usually takes a couple years, even with a full team. I've been working pretty much by myself, with a few other people stopping in to lend a hand every once and while. It's getting close though.

well it looks great so far, keep up the good work.  Don't rush anything

hey i thought I'd use this topic to ask this since its halo/sins related.

I found a link to some great Halo maps for sins (http://www.fileplanet.com/191633/download/Sins-of-a-Solar-Empire---Halo-Universe-Maps) the only problem is that when I try to open it up in galaxy forge, as I usually do for maps I download to tweak them to how I like to play, Most every planet on the maps is a variant not standard in sins.  I'm guessing it was created using one of the mods that give more planet diversity.  Like Reach is a military planet, and Earth is a city I think and stuff like that so I'm just wondering three things, first if anyone knows what mod is being used in this map. Second how I can create maps using that mod in galaxy forge so my planets can be that diverse.  And third will this mod work in tandem with the Sins of the Prophets mod thats in development because it would really add to the awesomeness if we had that much diversity in planets for the halo mod.

if that link doesn't work just let me know and I'll see if I can get one that does.  Or just upload the maps myself onto moddb.com (also I'm not sure who made these maps or I'd give them a shout out for making such extensive and awesome maps.)

edit: if there's an appropriate forum topic please direct me to it.
