Napolitano should be fired

Not because she said that the system worked, she was correct on that point. She should be fired because she is incompetent. She has no clue how to run a Department and is too busy being PC that she fails to see the problems coming down the road.

 

TSA has the second highest rate of suicides in the government right behind the military. Her solution is to make the entire department watch a video on workplace violence. Now the problem is with TSA but so as not to single anyone out the whole department has to watch this crap.

 

She should be focusing on terrorists but so as not to single anyone out the TSA has to mess with everyone that wants to fly. Because the panty bomber tried to destroy an airplane, everyone must sit with their hands in their laps the last hour of a flight. This is not security it is reacting to the terrorists proving once and for all time that this administration does not know how to deal with terrorism..

Sorry Paladin you lost me right there. I agree that Incompitano needs to step down though. Almost a decade after 911 this terrorist raised every red flag imaginable, one way ticket, paid in cash, no baggage, pacing nervously, Islamic, denied Visa in UK, was on watchlists, father desperately trying to warn that he was radical... about the only thing this kid didnt do was wear a T-shirt that read "I luv Jihad." This is a catastrophic collapse and if Incompitano actually believed for at least a day that "the system worked" then she is out of touch with reality and in way over her head.

Patterns are developing that are not confidence inspiring. This is not a job for the timid, nor the pawn of an agenda. She should realize she isn't up to the task. Unfortunately pride and politics trumps public safety in this case.

I agree with Anthony on this one.  At best you can say the system did not fail, but it definitely did not work.  Given that all the dots were there, I would say it failed.  Even a 5 year old could have connected them, but the DHS failed to.

Janet was appointed to the position solely because of her history of favoring (some will say just 'actively ignoring') illegal immigration in a border state.  She has always been a clever (some will say 'slippery') politician but had no qualifications for the job.  Doesn't appear she's learned much on the job, either.

Despite what may be best for the country, I don't think she will be going anywhere. A resignation hurts Barry's judgment factor (more). Better to have her look incompetent than him look more inexperienced than his does now.

In part you are correct, The area of failure was with the State Department. His visa should have been revoked. That part of the system is out of DHS hands. The one way ticket was the Airlines fault. They are supposed to flag the person to homeland and ask for direction. So for her part the system did work. The greater part of the system was s total screw up!

Yeah, most people in homland are demoralized by the appointment, It has not taken long for the cracks to start showitg up.

I would say it failed. Even a 5 year old could have connected them, but the DHS failed to.

Homeland is only one part of the system, She is the head of that part, and as much as I would love to jump on the cow for this, she was correct. We don't screen people outside the country so we could not control that aspect for now. As proof of my point look at it this way. AQ has been probing the system for the last 7 years inside the country. My area of responsiblity is Orlando, like clockwork AQ sends a few hundred people into Orlando to test the system twice a year. THey do it at every airport in the country. each time they were caught. Because of this they only way or they only weakness they have found is outside the USA where we have little or no control. This is why I say the system works in part. The State Department, and the CIA still need a lot of work and since CIA is back to not being allowed to communicate with FBI we are starting to see the same mess we had before 9/11

To clarify, the failure was not in discovering the explosives, the failure was in allowing him to come to this country in the first place.  Clearly they had ample justification for revoking his VISA and putting him on a no fly list.  They failed.  If they had done that, then we would not need anyone to screen him for explosives.

You are correct, the State Department did not revok the visa. The CIA did not pass on the danger of this man when they spoke to his father. Anyone that pays cash is supposed to be flagged by the airline. they didn't. Okay I work for homeland so I am biased a bit. Only one dot reached homeland and the rest was out of our hands. The reason I defend the cow is because for her part we did about all we could to stop people from doing what he did. If he had been spotted by one of our profilers we would have caught him but all of them are in the states so our next step is to expand it outside of the states, will other countries allow it?
