Two long range cannons on the same planet?

I remember in Entrenchment wondering if I could build two Kostera Cannons on the same planet, and finding it odd that I can have up to 35 tactical slots- but the cannon uses 18.

Diplomacy changed that with the shared buffs between civilizations. One of them allows both me and an ally player to have 4 free extra tactical slots, effectively defeating the number chosen for previous versions. I'm afraid the developers meant for it to be impossible to have two cannons on the same planet, but have missed this.

well... advent could always build 2 love cannons... so... ya.

if your advant advent, have a vasari tact pact, and a weapons testing facility planet bonus... you can fit 3 super weapons... 0_o

Now mind you, Advent "love cannons" don't stack for effect, whereas Kosturas and (to a lesser degree Novaliths) do.

I'm quite certain they are aware of this and this is what they meant for. It is my understanding that some of these pacts are meant to be this substantial to help move the game along quicker when it gets to those stages.

I'd be willing to bet they have noticed it at one point or another or will before it releases, but I wonder if they really had it in mind when they created the tactical slots buff.

I don't mean to make them sound stupid, but it really does seem odd. I think you're right Annatar, but this does seem to be a bigger buff then the rest, if only to some people, scenarios, and strategies. (I was personally thrilled when I saw that the cap would now be 39)

My mistake Pbhead. I thought the Advent were like that too. I'm glad you pointed out that now they can hold 3- this still keeps it relatively the same as before then.

actually... love cannons do stack... at least 3 times. they dont lower the maximum allegiance lost... but they exponentionally increase the amount of culture spread.

fire one at a planet... mouse over and view the "culture spread rate" or whatever... then try 2.

Non-asteroid planet: 35 tactical slots
Advent tech "Augmented Defense Grid": 10 tactical slots
Pact: 4 tactical slots

That gets 49 total tactical slots. However, if we throw in either the planetary bonus "High Security Protocol" (-20% trade income, +5 tactical slots) or "Weapons Test Facility" (-20 population, +8 tactical slots), we could hypothetically get 54 or 58 tactical slots on a planet, enough room for three superweapons (not that anyone is foolish/bored enough to do that).

I'm not bored at all, and am setting off right this moment to do just that! :D
