Where is the utopia we were promised, and hoped for?

How is that hoax and change working for you?

We elected an empty suit. The conservatives knew it, the optimistic liberals hoped it would be filled by someone, anyone behind the scenes. Unfortunately, there is no puppet master behind the screen. We are getting exactly what we voted for. A guy that looks good on camera, a man that wanted to be president and got his wish. The problem with the last three democrat presidents is that was the extent of their dream. I made it! What do I do now? This current empty suit is actually trying to do the things he promised he would do. I give him that much, he had the courage of his convictions. The problem is that what he wants to do with our nation is destroy it and rebuild it in a form that will cause our people to suffer.

Don’t misunderstand me. I am not of the opinion that he wants to make people suffer, or collapse our economy with the weight of foreign debt. He is just doing all the things that, liberals like himself, wanted to do to make this country better. What we are all finding out is that the liberal way does not work. It never has worked, because, although the goals are lofty and nice, the only way to make it happen is through fascism. This is evidenced with the healthcare bill. Do it our way or you go to jail. To save money we will have to deny services to some people. Governor Palin rightly called them death panels to get our attention. Liberal or conservative it makes no difference both sides want what is best for the nation. The argument is how to do it. A liberal will see a poor person and say “Look at that poor person, someone should do something for that person”. Thinking that the best way is to give the person what it takes to get out of the poor house. A conservative sees a poor person and says, “Oh, my God, you need help. Here is a place you can get a job. That is seen as cold hearted by the liberal.

Here is the problem liberals. If you give people stuff they are a drain on the society. If you help them earn a living they are boost to the society. My case on point is the home mortgage debacle. Laws were written that forced the banks to loan money to people that could not pay it back. The law said that any loans defaulted on would be made good by the government. When the banks came back with a fist full of bad loans, the same lawmakers said it was the banks fault. This quickly dried up the nation’s money supply. No money for businesses to expand businesses stopped growing and started to lay off workers, more people default on their mortgage. The law was well intentioned but not well thought out. It was written when we had a projected surplus of ten trillion dollars. Those projections were based on everyone working, paying bills and taxes. With less people paying taxes the government gets less money.

Cutting taxes helped keep people employed, with the current empty suit saying that those tax cuts will not be renewed companies shed jobs to make up the difference. Last year I paid bonuses of 7 grand per employee on average. This year I have only two employees and no bonuses. Liberals don’t understand that the purpose of business is to make a profit. No profit no jobs. I saw this coming years ago and got a contract job with homeland security so I could at least keep two of my employees or I would have to fire one more. I know times will get better and I will be able to hire again and my business will flourish again. Until then I have to cry because people that depended on me for a living no longer work for me and finding a job now is tough. I remember when Mr. Clinton was President and the unemployment rate was at 5% and everyone in the liberal media said how great he was. When Mr. Bush was in office, the unemployment rate was at 4.5% and the liberal media screamed we were in a depression. Well, doing things the liberal way has gotten us to 10% unemployment and things are looking better thanks to Mr. Obama, according to the media. The people that run businesses see the lies being told and are doing what they can to save their businesses.

The hope and change that people wanted turned into Hoax and change working for you. Saying see I told you so does no good. I just hope you understand that you can’t give stuff away to make it better.

By the way the congress wants to pay for every poor person to keep the house they can’t afford. They want to take the stimulus money and pay for it. So says Rep Frank.

The not so bad news is that the conservatives can’t be blamed for this mess, the liberals control the white house, the house and the senate. We threw out the conservatives and there is no one to blame but ourselves. I have said it more than once, Mr. Bush was a liberal republican so don’t come at me pointing out the stupid things he did while in office. There have only been two conservative presidents in my life, Kennedy, and Reagan. Some of you are old enough to remember when both parties had conservatives now we only have a handful in the Republican Party and none to speak of on the democrat side. I think Senator Lieberman was the last conservative in the democrat party so this is not republican vs. democrat it is liberal vs. conservative. The liberal way of doing things may seem like the right thing to do but it always ends in disaster.

So liberals tell me what is wrong with what conservatives believe?

We believe that everyone that can earn a living should earn a living.

We believe that social programs don’t work.

We believe that everyone should get the best education available because it betters the society.

We believe that if you want something you should earn it.

We believe that everyone should be allowed to believe in and worship as one chooses. It is our moral responsibility and not a dictate from the left as to what we should be allowed to believe.

We believe in small government and that the government does not have the right to dictate to us how we should think or what we should believe.

We believe that government works for us not the other way around which means that we pay only enough taxes to keep the government running not anything extra for people that won’t work.

Admit it you were conned

I wasn't, but I will admit the alternative wouldn't have been much better, especially with the congress we have now.

Nothing in life is free, even death has it's price. If you can't believe that then you are definitely a Liberal.

I wasn't canned, but I was not given a better option either. We get what we pay for.

ONe of the reasons I did not vote for McCain either.  Death by a slash, or by a thousand cuts is still death.

You are all correct we did not have a choice but that is because we allowed that to happen when we let the democrats vote in our primary elections. They chose our guy.

Yeah, it's funny how liberals think we love anything with an "R" behind it. They don't understand conservatives are just as reviled when a republican does stupid things. If fact they are so full of themselves thinking that 2006 and 2008 shows a rise in liberalism and totally dismiss a conservative backlash, which mainly consisted of conservatives not supporting republicans. One particularly obnoxious liberal on JU, bragged on his blog recently how he would never vote for anybody with an "R" after their name. You can't get more shallow then that. Guess he didn't realize what party supported LBJ's civil rights bill. Ah those tolerant liberals. They would cut off your nose to spite their face.

There has got to be a better way. The first thing I'd do if I could would be to have all primary's the same night. Why should Iowa and the next few states decide our choices?

Second too much money involved (and this leads to too many "owed favors"). Limit the total amount of campaign funds to a set level (not talking about individual donations), anything over must be returned. All funds go through a non-partisan organization for transparency and accounting. A by product of this would be that campaigns would need to stay on message to conserve funds.

The current system invites corruption, and increases the chances of "incompetence with style" candidates of winning.

Set limits should be 100k per state and the money can only be spent in that state. With that the cost of advertising would drop like a stone.

I'm all for that. I don't believe the advertisers would like it much, everyone wants their cut around campaign time.
