Can you post a pic of the error message?

Yes, try to post a picture if you can. Just in case you or anyone reading this doesn't know how, I'll save a google search- Press the PrtScrn/SysRq button (dirrectly above the arrow keys), open paint, and paste it in by right clicking. Save it and open it with photobucket or any image sharing site. We really have no idea what the problem is from the information you give. I can only say a few things that are common problems.

Did you update your drivers? Updating the game itself won't cut it as far as this is concerned. (as a general note, whenever you have a problem of any kind(if not periodicly), updating them is a good idea. I'd update my video and sound drivers at least.

Have you tried runing it in safe and administrator mode? You can get to those by right clicking the icon, in Vista at least.

Is the resolution setting out of whack? If the game didn't launch, this could be the problem. Go to properties, and you should find an option to launch in 640X480 or something like that, and then reseting the resolution ingame if you want to. Again, this is how I get to it in Vista, so it might be a little different from Windows 7.

Is that the broken and now non-functional Sins launcher?

Try finding your game install in your Program Files folder (or wherever you told the game to install) and then opening the Sins folder and looking for "Sins of a Solar Empire.exe" and/or "Sins of a Solar Empire Entrenchment.exe" and run that instead.  If it works, just make shortcuts to the files and put them on your desktop.

i don't get any error msg.. and i have no "Sins of a Solar Empire Entrenchment.exe"

i am looking for the .exe fil in.. "C:\Program Files\Kalypso\Sins of a Solar Empire"

My understanding is that the Launcher for the game is outdated and no longer works.  You need to dig around in your Sins folder for "Sins of a Solar Empire.exe".  Then make a shortcut to it.  Also, consider emailing Ironclad, which you can find at [email protected] I think.

is just make that shortcut.. but still not working! :S

My game doesnt start either.. not even running the "Sins of a Solar Empire.exe" directly.  I can see the process "Sins of a Solar Empire.exe" running on the task manager but the program doesnt start at all.

In other words, if you click "Play Game" on the launcher or if you douoble click "Sins of a Solar Empire.exe" no program opens.

There is no screen shot we can take because there is no program open.

I've got the same problem.

If i try to run the sins.exe, the process appears in the task manager, but the game doesn't start... even not if waiting half an hour.

I figured out that the problem concerns the following file:

C:\Users\"USERNAME"\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting\user.setting

Error message: Could not detect if Archive File is Binary or Text

any ideas? please

The user.setting file may have become corrupted. Simply delete it and try restarting. This file will be regenerated for you if it is not present so there is no harm in removing it.

I am having the same problem years later....

What is killing me is that the game ran perfect yesterday...and always has. The only one thing that changed was I had downloaded a starbase mod..which worked fine in the game.. After I quit the game it has never launched again.

I have uninstalled every single folder and file associated with the game.... re-installed and still nothing. The only trace that it has "launched" is in task manager under processes... I have spent hour on the net trying to find the solution.... And now....I just purchased rebellion and it is downloading...worried I will have the same problem.

What could have caused this to happen??

Wondering if I need to search for an .exe crack or something to bypass whatever it is with the launcher....

Did you delete the mod you downloaded?
