[BUG] cannot place hangars anymore

I was playing a game on a huge map against a few hard AIs, and after some time I was unable to place hangars anymore.

The game got lost, and when I clicked on the button to build a hangar, it increased the counter on top of the button, indicating a new structure was to be constructed, but it did not allow me to place the structure. the cursor dd not change to 'place structure' anymore. 

I don't know if it is related to it, but shortly before I had set up a large number of mines to be built on a gravwell. 

I don't know if it is only hangars afected, or all structures.

 I have a save game and the bug persists on loading.

Did you accidentally turn on the "automatically place structures" option?  there's a button right next to the build buttons (either right below or above "Ping").  If it's on, the counter will go up (because one is going to be built), but you won't get a "place structure cursor" because the game has already decided where to place it : )

Yeah, true. Not a bug then, scrap that.

 

I didn't even know that button existed... I vote to scrap it. who would want to let the game do a crappy job of misplacing the structures?

hmmm.  when I'm going over 10 planets I took over the last hour or so, and maxing out all civilian structures (refineries, trade ports, extractors) I like to be able to just click on the planet from galaxy view, click the civilian structures button and max out the above mentioned structures... All without zooming in and placing one at a time! :)  Does it really make much difference where those structures are placed?  Of course when I'm building defense platforms/ phase inhibitors/ etc, I turn that button off :)

Mmhmm. The button is handy when you expand your border and need to just quickly fill in your civvy slots in your new backwater planets. Since nothing's ever going to get in there, I don't really care where the structures go (and it still usually keeps them fairly grouped up with auto-place) so I just turn it on and let it do the work for me so I don't have to zoom in to each grav well.
