I tend to give and like to receive ones that have scenes that remind those getting them of Christmas past,  Norman Rockwell paintings come to mind and so does Thomas Kinkade.

Okay BoXXi, but you could find cards that are made out of recycled product, couldn't you?  How about E-Cards?

I Design my own Christmas Cards for family and friends then personalize each with their names , photo/s etc.  - then e-mail ....  sized for them to print and hang with their other ones  or just view on the computer - personal and inexpensive for me  - no computer/printer ?  then I print and send .... :)

Great idea Mike!!!!  I will keep this in mind for next year!!!!   Well I do design and print mine, but I like the idea of emailing them . Although as Philly stated, there are *paper cards made with recycled products* and I do use those.  Anyway I love to send and receive Christmas cards!!!  Nice post loukeeya!!!!

I'm with BoXXi on this one!  Even recycled card means that trees had to be cut down originally... and with the amount of wrapping paper/cards over X-mas, not to mention tons upon tons of paper going into Christmas advertising, it's bloody disgusting.

It's bad enough that the corporate world has raped, pillaged and desecrated the planet, purely to profit, now we're being expected by the powers-that-be to pay for its greed, through such schemes as ETS (Emissions Trading Scheme).  The World's forests and jungles are important... no, essential to our atmosphere and preventing global warming, yet millions of trees are felled annually to make paper/card that is simply thrown away.

Nope, I (personally) refuse to send Christmas/Birthday cards...and all my family/friends know not to send them to me... cos even recycled ones mean trees had to die.

Sorry to put a damper on things, folks, but the continual plundering of the planet's natural resourses is of great concern to me.

it is a shame starkers the way we abuse this beautiful planet - maybe one day there wont b a need for any useless wrapping paper, cartons and other wasteful stuff - i hate all that useless stuff that comes with something you buy!

im with you boxxi,if you collected all the christmas cards from the residents of one street you would be surprised at the waste of trees and money.send an ecard or even an email with a nice winter scene, your paying for the broadband anyway.
