Beta 2 Comment: AI Not Smart about Reciprocating Pact Attempts

I played a game today where I got to cease fire, and then sent in a fleet of envoy ships to cover my opponents systems.  Soon, we had a full-out peace treaty, and I was starting to hit the lower-end pact techs.  Checking my percent, I had a lovely 100% (121% with envoy bonus) and was prepared to offer the pact... but they were only at 100%.  No problem, really, maybe they're not using envoys?

 

Unfortunately this wasn't the case.  My 'ally' had envoys camping in a different race's gravity well... and as far as I know they were either fighting or cease fire, certianly not base 100% against each other.

 

In this situation, the AI should be encouraged to send his envoys TO ME, his 100% ally (or to one of his fellow computer 100% allies, not to someone with less than 100%).  I mean, sure, if he wants to increase his relations with someone else, that's fine by me, but if I'm ready to pact, it is kind of annoying to think my ally isn't interested when the benefits are mutual...

edit: I can supply replay/save games if the devs are interested, and want to verify the exact details.

hm, I'd have to check my current game, but I think my ai ally also has a pretty high % to me and never offered a pact. that is a bit strange, and he did have a good many envoys at may worlds.

I have that problem also... The AI will not offer my jack s**t. Well over 140% and nothing.

exactly the same issue here - I'm ready and waiting with over 160% and the AI is still down in the mid 130% area; at some point they just stopped bothering with envoys completely. there's a bunch of them sat by one of my worlds, with adjacent planets getting no attention - they've been there ages so all but one must be doing absolutely nothing...

how about an "invite envoy" button?

oh, and while we're at it, how about a "here, you can colonise this world" button (for when they don't have enough to get the higher pacts)

I've had the AI offer me pacts before, just not in that particular game.

We're currently tweaking the way AI chooses who to foster relationships with, and should hopefully have something a bit different for you to try soon.
