apologies if this has been posted already. some time ago there was a post from one of the devolopers saying that there would be a campaing mode in the diplomacy expansion however now i am not seeing any mentions of it. is anyone aware if this feature was dropped and if so any information regarding this?

That was part of the former plan where they we gonna have 3 optional miniexpansions for sins and a large full expansion later that they considering a campaign for. The plan has now changed and Diplomacy is the final expansion for sins and it requires entrenchment to play. This plan make me personaly guess that they are working on Sins 2 and anything else that they wanted to do with a full expansion will be in the new game

So glad Ironclad has ignored a campaign. You play it once, then you're done. Whereas sandbox, you play it maybe a thousand times. Which is a better use of a developer's time? I play campaigns is strategy games. ONCE. Then I stick to sandbox, until I've exhausted that. And it certainly hasn't happened with Sins yet.

why is everyone so desperate for a campaign? its epic as is and i doubt the gameplay would support a campaign :s

Because many of us have zero interest in playing against other people.

i think alot of it is also for some sort of story, more than the intros anyway. like you start the campaign when all this first started then progress to the present day. a campaign would be nice if they could make it 'never ending' as in with each new patch they release a new 'mission' for the campaign so something like that. that way you get a little more of the story and game improvments at the same time, well i think its a good idea but it might not be worth it to enough ppl to matter (im pro campaign) :cylon:

I personally agree with the sentiments above (both sides). Agree that Sins does not need a campaign, it is truly awesome by itself in sandbox mode, but would also like to see a campaign just to flesh out more of the story. Would I not buy anymore of Ironclads products if they dont? No, I would still buy, because they have already put out an excellent product with a limited budget (which may explain the lack of campaign, no money for it).

It should have a campaign of some sort, even if its something like a Risk Battlemap style. There is a lot of background story that feels like its being neglected. I'm not expecting a campaign to be added in the microexpansions, but the full expansion/sequel should have one added in.

Campaign [CAMP-PAIN], noun: A series of predictable scripted events offering stunted gameplay for most of the time due to game elements being locked and 'saved' for later.

It also gives you a sense of progression so you don't feel like your games never go anywere. The problem with most campaigns is that they fail to grasp this concept.
