Weather Docklet

Why is this always broken?

Either I'm the only one who's having this problem, or the post gets remove so Object Dock doesn't look bad (as it really is).

Anyone else having to restart OD in order to make weather app work?

Even after 100s of re-install, in fall short again.

If only there was a way to change its dll or make some js, xml, ini, or any, in order to make it work, I'd do it.

Peace

edit; I had to post this in order to find where all the other post on this bug all were..... lol

seems I'm far from the only one who's having this problem.

But I wonder how can they sell this, if its docklets don't all work 100%. You can sell a broken car, but you can't sell the same broken car all the time, seriously.

RESOLVED :)))

ObjectDock Weather Docklet Incorrect Days By Gargabee Posted December 12, 2008 4:01:14 PM

For anyone that is having a problem with the weather docklet reporting the days incorrectly (for instance, Friday would list as Today, Tomorrow, Friday) we have an unofficial temporary workaround that you can try.

Close down ObjectDock so that it is not running.

Open the folder where ObjectDock is installed (typically C:\Program Files\Stardock\ObjectDock) and find your 'stardockweather.ocx' file. Right click on it and select 'Rename' and rename it to 'stardockweather.ocx.bak' so that you can keep your original file preserved in case something goes horribly wrong.

Download this replacement stardockweather.ocx file:

http://sd.stardock.com/ken/stardockweather.ocx

and save it to your ObjectDock install folder (C:\Program Files\Stardock\ObjectDock). Open up ObjectDock and check the weather docklet. This may not work for everyone as it is a temporary workaround.

You will get this error less often, or not at all (at least for a while) by replacing the weather ocx file. Follow the instructions in THIS thread, then restart OD. I've no idea why the "fix" doesn't stick for long.:S

thx

I was doing it while you were here

I found all the other post by clicking a link in OD page. The forum home page has none and give no clue at all on that matter. One have to know that the link to these post is way further down the road (not that cleaver for a web-site webmaster I must say)

Peace

btw; feel free to remove my post, all I really care is that OD works now;))

@Wizard1956

I'll try this to see if it change anything. I've removed all rights from the system and others. I keep this file and ownership only to me (user). And save this and apply "read only" so that OD does get to re-write anything in it.

Peace
