WOO HOO, THE WHO ARE PLAYING THE HALF TIME SHOW OF THE SUPERBOWL

You wanna know the wierd thing? I'm 21 and listen to nothing but the music from the 60's, 70's, and 80's. All of which is before I was born.

Aerosmith, Dire Straits, Peter Frampton, Eric Clapton, TOM F'IN PETTY, The Clash, The Doobie Brothers, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, the list goes on and on and on, so don't feel I'm leaving any group out specifically.

My generation complains that the halftime show is a bunch of old gesers who are boring to listen to (ok,  that's a pretty ignorant blanket statement there, you get my point though). You know what? If my generation could could produce more than a handfull of actual musicians/artists that are actually talented and fun to listen to, then we can talk (Ok, another blanket statement, but you get the gist).

Here's to another great selection for an artist for the half time show. The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Prince (eeeeeh, he's reeeeally not my style of music).

Cheers folks!

The best thing that ever happened to the Super Bowl was that "Wardrobe Malfunction" which prompted the change in direction for the halftime shows.  No more reason for the counter-programming anymore.  Prince's performance was AMAZING, The Who will be awesome, too.

If Prince is your thing, that's fine by me. He's just not my style of music.

He's a huge step up over (exempting aerosmith....although N'Sync and Britney Spears joined them so that was a tainted performance) anything MTV put together. I like how people were surprised that MTV didn't know anything about music (to quote lewis black).

Sweet, I love the Who

I am the same with Raging Amish as far as the older music (though I got 9 years on you) but I do enjoy some of the newer music, though they usually have roots in the older music forms

@Kyogre12 - haha:annoyed:

I don't doubt people of their time wasn't saying the same crap about many of them like people of our time is. And in later years it will just repeat itself and artist now will be praised as being better than artist of the future. Taste in music varies and changes with each generation yet people for some reason just can't accept this.

If you like The Who, make sure you get their version of Tommy.

Some really great music in that album.

Half time show... Well, you need something to break the boredom...

The Who are awesome. I thought they we're a little old to be playing a live show, but I guess not. Classic music is the best though. When I learned to play guitar I learned on classics. Smoke on the Water, old Led Zep, Lynyrd Skynyrd. classic rock. Then I moved up to what I was listening to at the time, Pearl Jam, Nirvana (it was the 90's).

The only problem I have is the guy is slightly tone deaf at this point, but he never could sing that well to begin with so it's academic probably...

How'd I miss this thread? I love music of those times.

My favorite music also, although I have a few years on you (the OP that is) at 38. I'm not sure if I listen to any rock bands who started 1990 or so, if I do, they are few and far in between. They are sure on a pretty decent string of music acts!
