MyColors + Windows 7: The Thread

I know the Harley Davidson MyColors theme works because I just loaded it!

The odd looking start menu button problem can be solved by selecting " Use small icons " which will reduce their size to what they were in Window Vista/ XP

So if the application is compatible with Windows 7 but the themes aren't officially compatible what are you supposed to do with the application other than wait?

I bought a theme after seeing the latest version of MyColors was support on Windows 7 and the theme, Washington Capitals, doesn't work. I'm not happy about it but it does work on my Vista machine.

When I purchased Pirates I got Winter Wonderland Premium as a bonus for my purchase. When My Colors Pirates came out I got the upgrade for free but Stardock refuses to give me the My Colors Winter Wonderland unless I buy it. I explained and presented my receipt that I indeed have Winter Wonderland Premium and not the "free" version. They never responded. Shame on Stardock!

What does "My Colors" do that other elements of Object desktop doesnt do, i have'nt tried it yet , but it seems to me its more of the same and more to keep up with ie, change wallpapers in Deskscapes, change wallpapers in Windowblinds, change wallpapers in windows.. help me understand it all!

My Colors really came about for the users that just wanted to be able and press one key/button and be able to change their desktop theme. 

Nice idea but most of the members in the community really like to be able to pick skins from the WC Gallery Libraries and pull together their own desktops.  Althought it's still has bugs, alot of folks use Theme Manager to turn their own desktops into Suites.  They can just save and have them available to use when ever their mood changes.

Not to mention it's a lot cheaper!!!!  lol     

I believe I have even called Theme Manager Suites the poor mans My Colors once or twice.

Except... I can use the new Windows 7 styled themes in Theme Manager... can't yet in My Colors

I do hope they update Dragon, RIP and Ankh for Windows 7... they were my favorites

My Colors was never meant for those folks that wanted to build their own suites.  It is/was only meant for applying 'canned' suites/themes.

So will there be updates to existing schemes to support Windows 7? I like the themes I've lost the use of them on my laptop after upgrading to Windows 7.

Please upgrade My Colors Music Theme for Windows 7 x64.

When I try to install it the This Theme is not compatible with your Windows Version error message appears.

I already upgraded from WinXP x64 because you don't support it and renewed my subscription to find you don't support My Colors Music theme for Windows 7 x64!

Niche99, are you still unable to install the Music Desktop theme?

CircuitsMaximus, many of the MyColors themes no longer block installation on Windows 7. That being said, that still doesn't mean they are officially supported.

I would prefer if they were blocked rather than getting installed and not working. In the end I'd most prefer that they get updated. It's a shame I have to lose these great themes because I'm keeping current with my OS.

I've just managed to get dragon working pefectly on windows 7 home premium. Hope this info helps someone else out there cause I've been tearing my hair out for the last few days trying to get it working. I have no idea why this has worked but here's what I did:

I had mycolors and theme manager (from the link at the bottom of the post) installed already. I downloaded the demo of windows blinds and tried to install. It said it couldn't install on a machine with mycolors so I uninstalled that and then installed blinds. I downloaded the dragon skin from https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?libid=1&sort=featured and applied and got the 98 looking toolbar. When I tried to revert to aero nothing happened. So I unistalled blinds ready to install mycolors back on. Mycolors was still listed in the start menu even though I'd uninstalled it. I started it up and tried for the last time to use the dragon theme. And it worked so I presume there's some difference between theme manager in mycolors and the version in the link.

Mycolors is no longer listed as an installed program but I do have theme manager listed. The link I downloaded that from is:

Hope this works for anyone else frustrated at not being able to use a theme they'd paid for too

Any chance of seeing anything official so I can either get my themes working or move on? This seems to be supported as well as all of the other Stardock apps. If you can't find someone on a forum with a workaround your application stays broken. It just falls in line with my disappointment with the entire Object Desktop suite. Too many problems with the applications and poor or no documentation. Again, we're back to the forums for information. Look at the confusion in the other MyColors threads. There's a running theme of confusion even when people downloaded free themes. That's probably not the best way to entice people to buy your applications. I've been subscribed and kept OD up to date and have purchased a bunch of themes. My subscription is ending and I won't be purchasing more themes.

I Just got an add in my email today for Premium Skins for Object Desktop... some of these skins I bought for MyColors.  The premium skins seem to have Win7 versions, whereas the MyColors ones do not.

How do I get the Premium versions, given I already paid for the MyColors versions, without having to pay again?  I should get a free update.
