Signatures....these forums need them.

So how come we can't use signatures on these forums?

@starkers...yours:

If I had a sig it would have to have smellovision... so I can be more  generous. }:)

Yeah, signatures are awful.

I've seen other forums that allow sigs, and I can't stand the cluttered look. I much prefer the format we currently have here.

Agreed.  Signatures were cool for about the first 3 times I saw them, then they got really old very quickly.  They get especially annoying when they start to take up more room than the replies themselves do.  I'm in favor of Stardock leaving things the way they are.

Tho I allow sigs on my other forums, I would not want them cluttering up WC. My other forums are gaming unit related so our sigs are mostly stats and team related. But we do normally keep it to one sig and a user bar.

The issue is they hog up space, slow page loading. From a moderators point of view, I really wouldnt want to have to police another aspect of the site, (occasinally people try to use nasty or offensive images etc). SO keeping them out of WC is another way to cut down on the site admins headaches.

I never liked the sigs. That means: I never used them extensively. That said, I could accept sigs in this forum, but only if they would be restricted to plain text (no emotes, images, scripts, whatever) with max. 300 characters and only 1 enter (line break, new line, line feed).

You're all a bunch of sticks in the mud :P. I still like Sigs provided they aren't huge and annoying.

I believe the examples you showed were huge and annoying.  Maybe fine for gaming forums but not WC, which is why I hate the forums being crossed.  Sorry, just my opinion.

Perhaps you will enjoy these, m'lady. I made these long ago. At one time or another I used them all and they all said "Raven Xavier" but I gave 3 of them away to friends and re-made them with their names after they "Won" them in a contest I held when I was a "Top Poster" on MySpace. Back then I had about 300 people a day reading my poetry and product reviews I'd do online. To drum up more readers for my site I'd give away collage art that I would do in my spare time when I wasn't writing.

those are really cool Raven :inlove: looks like i found another kindred soul! you rock.......|-)

I made my own sig for my account when i used to play gaia online years ago...if i find it, ill put it here and show ya.

it was my avatar and felix the cat lolz. and coke i think???

**edit** nah tried to find it, it used to be hosted by imageshack, but its obviously no longer linked so they got rid of it....bugger.
