M.I.A. The Dred Lords

It seems to me, back when I first got Dred Lords, that the Lords occasionally came and attacked whoever was strongest in the galaxy.  That hasn't happend for a very long time . . .

I assumed that I had turned off a setting to make it stop for some reason.  But now I cannot find such a setting.  So, then I wondered if it was something removed in a patch (even though it doesn't make sense to remove the Lords for the Dred Lords game), but I didn't see anything skimming through the change info.  So, it must be a faulty memory of something from the campaign, or maybe I played the Dred Lords on Parade galaxy set up.

So, is there a way to get the Lords in a normal, custom galaxy with a custom race?

Thanks

That only happens in the Campaign, not in sandbox mode. You'll get pirates in sandbox, but not Dread Lords.

Actually, I did have the Dread Lords appear in a sandbox game I was playing, but they attacked the Altarians instead of me, probably because they were the strongest at the time. The Altarians finished them off before I could get to them.

Yes, the Dread Lords will still appear in TA sandbox games. It is a random event, but apparently they really cut back on how often it happens.

So it seems - I haven't had the Dread Lords in several dozen games now, though the Jagged Knife seem more active than ever...

Hmmm . . . that's too bad because I'd rather play a custom race than human, and I don't have the expansions.  But at least now I know.

If Stardock ever udates Dred Lords again, adding an option to have the Lords attack in Sandbox is my suggestion.

What about using the Milky Way galaxy map?  I seem to remember them occupying a world in the center of the galaxy, in DA at least, when you use that map (though I've only played the Milky Way galaxy map once, so maybe I was just lucky).

The Dreadlords do attack in DA sandbox, though I've not seen them for a while.
