Pacov/Kalel's QA testing for Sorian's current DG mods - boots of better speed and the fire TB fix - see for results

I ran several test scenarios with Kalel's assistance to better understand how the modding system works and used 2 of Sorians mods for these tests...boots of better speed

Here are the test results:

 

 

boots of better speed

 

All 1v1 games

TEST 1:

 

            Host:  pacov

            Installed mods - boots of better speed

            Enabled mods - boots of better speed

 

            Player:  Kalel

            Installed mods - boots of better speed

            Enabled mods - NONE

 

Outcome - both kalel and pacov can buy and use better speed.  HOST'S forced all players to be Enabled

 

TEST 2:

 

            Host:  pacov

            Installed mods - boots of better speed

            Enabled mods - boots of better speed

 

            Player:  Kalel

            Installed mods - NONE

            Enabled mods - NONE

 

Outcome -kalel can't join the game.  get's message:  one or mods in use in this game are missing or out of date.  problem mods are marked with a * in the game tooltip.

 

TEST 3:

            Host:  pacov

            Installed mods - boots of better speed

            Enabled mods - NONE

 

            Player:  Kalel

            Installed mods - boots of better speed

            Enabled mods - boots of better speed

 

Outcome - kalel can join the game, but no one can use the mod. 

 

            Host:  pacov

            Installed mods - NONE

            Enabled mods - NONE

 

            Player:  Kalel

            Installed mods - boots of better speed

            Enabled mods - boots of better speed

 

Outcome - kalel can join the game, but the mod is not turned on for everyone

   

Fire TB Test

 

TEST 1:

 

            Host:  pacov

            Installed mods - fire tb fix

            Enabled mods - fire tb fix

 

            Player:  Kalel

            Installed mods - fire tb fix

            Enabled mods - NONE

 

Outcome - (pacov get's swift ank+ boots of speed... pacov's fire tb hits and attacks on the move)... tried a 2nd game with same settings, but kalel gets swift ank + boots of speed - kalel's fire tb hits and attacks on the move)

 

TEST 2:

 

            Host:  pacov

            Installed mods - fire tb fix

            Enabled mods - fire tb fix

 

            Player:  Kalel

            Installed mods - NONE

            Enabled mods - NONE

 

Outcome -kalel can't join the game.  get's message:  one or more mods are in use in this game are missing or out of date.  problem mods are marked with a * in the game tooltip.

ObjectDock - Access shortcuts and frequently used applications from an animated dock.

No, only the host can enable sim-mods.

It would be useful if maybe the name of the missing/outdated mod could be displayed.

No, you just have to extract the archive into the bindata/mods folder of Demigod.

If you have Vista, the built-in extractor is extremely nice.

I personally use WinRar but my second favorite is 7-Zip.

Anyway use whatever suits you.

It is. When you hover over a game any mods that you are missing have an asterisk(*) next to them. There is even a pop-up window that tells you that if you try to join a game that is using a mod that you don't have.
