Diplomacy is the second and final expansion???

thought three micro's were to come out...

Just got the Stardock "Report of Empire" email.  I couldn't help but notice that Diplomacy was stated to be the second and final micro-expansion.  Strange I seem to recall when Sins first came the announcment of THREE micro expansions. I assume this is because of the modding community and the length it has taken to develop the mcro expansions. Anyone in the know care to elaborate and dash the hopes and dreams of the thousands of owners out there?

It makes sense.  Since it is taking them about one year for each micro-expansion, Diplomacy will come out 2 years after Sins's release so it may not make economic sense to produce a third expansion to be released 3 years after its release.

Do not despair!  After they are done with the second expansion the most logical thing to do for a game-of-the-year winner is to begin working on a sequel--Sins-2.  Besides, even without a Sins-2 or a third expansion, there are always custom mods and custom maps to explore.  Also, 99% of the Sins purchasers never explored online multiplayer, which is almost a completely different game (almost like its own expansion) that offers a horde of new stragetic considerations and challenges since human opponents and allies are very different from AI and team games (4v4, 5v5) play very differently from games with AI.

One of these threads should be stickied. Seriously how often does this question come up?

Heh heh.  It's too bad that people who don't play online multiplayer regularly won't see the humor in that post.

Certainly not often enough, there's only three threads about this - on the first page.

they most likely are planning on makeing a full blown expansion (like assault or conquest) or just making a new sins (i dont see the point though unless they want to use a new engine to make more things possible [like windows 7 to vista])

The point of making a Sins-2 would be to sell the game to people who bought the first Sins and also to get fresh publicity for the game and to sell it to people who never bought the first one.  So why not do it?  They can build and improve upon everything they've done in Sins and the expansions and incorporate it all into Sins-2 plus offer added features such as better graphics and more planet types, another race, a single player campaign, and a couple more ships, etc.

Heh, better graphics would be awesome... I can't complain about them now, especially with bailknight mod.

And think, Sins-2 could be the last add on, making it a completely new game, with even more micro-expansions.

I second the campagn mode, that would be interesting how that plays out.

At PAX they were hinting at a full expansion pack, not a mini one. Well, Stardock was. The exact description was:

"How many of you have had great ideas or improvements for Sins? *waits for people to raise hands*. Exactly. Now think about the great ideas the Development Team has had. Now, can you get all of those ideas and improvements in a MINI expansion? No. That's all I'm going to say about this subject."

You all forget about the "Unknown Enemy" that the Vasari are running from. This is pure speculation, but i think Sins 2 will be based on the "Unknown Enemy" that the Vasari have been running from. They will finally arrive, and cause chaos in the known Tec, Advent, and Vasari Remnant occupied regions.

Sins, Entrenchment, and Diplomacy set the stage for (picture star control 2's spathi voice) "The Ultimate Evil" to arrive. Sins 2 more than likely will be the Tec, and Advent combining their forces with what is left of the Vasari to fight this Unknown Enemy. According to Diplomacy lore the Vasari have nowhere left to go. The war with Tec crippled them. Some Advent sub factions are sympathising with both sides. Another expansion to cover the "ultimate evil" wont cut it. New ships, New tech trees. New features. New everything will be needed. Again this is pure speculation, but i dont see how they would pull off Sins 2 without the "Ultimate Evil".

Dev's said a long time ago that they would consider a campaign. If not for Sins, but for Sins 2.

If there is to be a Sins 2 we are talking about at least 2 years down the road minimum. (again pure speculation).

I think they are workin on something to expand sins. It's not a micro expansion. Could possably be a full one or something akin to SC: Forged Alliance?

My speculation on what I remember.
