Problems after upgrading

I have a problem when doing a fresh download and install.  It deletes all of the old fences which as you can guess, makes one Heck of a mess.  Plus time to reset the new fences, change names, move all icons back.

This happens every time.  I love the program, just need to know how to keep setup as is after install.  Also when ever I click to get update it tells me I have the latest already, this cannot be right, because you just did a fix for the date error thing..  NOV 1 2009 ect.

Like I said this is one of the best things I have on all of my computers, just need to know how to reinstall without losing everything that is set now.
