Artists Edition 2 theme - win7 version?

I recently bought a HP dv6-1260se Artist's Edition 2 laptop.  It came with several preloaded custom programs such as Stardock's Mycolors for a custom designed interface that matches the rest of the laptops outside motitf.  The laptop is currently running Windows Vista 64bit

I really want to upgrade to Windows 7 once my HP upgrade package gets here, but I also want to keep the theme that mycolors gives it.  As far as I've read in this forum, it looks like several mycolors themes are updated and just hafta be re-downloaded and reinstalled to work on Windows 7.  However the 'HP Artists Edition 2' theme isn't available for download.  Is there anyway I can get a Win7 happy version?

BTW, this is what the theme looks like..

I have updated from vista to windows7 and the HP Artist Edition 2 theme is perfectly applied :)

I only have a little problem. The Artist Edition 2 clock has not conserve the position. Always when I reboot my computer, the clock is positioned to the left on my desktop. If I move the clock to the right position on the desktop, and reboot, the clock back again to the left. Its not save the position on desktop. :(

I'm having the same problem and I know how to fix it!

I need the help of my community to make a patch that will fix this problem though.

Yes, I am running Windows 7 and do not have the file... however, if anyone has the files still, I need a copy of their 'MyColors' folder located in the 'Stardock' folder in 'Program Files' / 'Program Files (x86)'.

Email me at [email protected] with the files and I will make the patch.

EDIT: Contacting HP and Stardock does NOTHING! It's up to us people! D=

This is copyrighted material and what your asking is piracy. You will have to get it from HP or Stardock since they own the rights to distribute it.

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\ThemeManager

Just backup that folder, then replace it once the new operating system is in place.

@ Carguy1:

Obviously they do not care if I break their 'copyright' if both parties have no idea what it is. Besides, I am only distributing it to the people who have the problem. If they don't want to fix their problem then why would they care if I stepped in to fix it for them?

To the rest of the community, thank you for your involvement. I still need the files located in the two discovered locations:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\ThemeManager

C:\Program Files\Stardock\MyColors

I need both to produce a path. All credit (of course) will go to the companies that put their work into making the beautiful theme and the members of the community.

Ok Ladies and Gentlemen... I managed to get the theme on my computer!  Here's the path I took...

Local disk C:, open Windows.Old then Users/ then the Public folder, next public documnets then Stardock and finaly Theme Manager. In there you'll find HP Artist Edition click on it. I had to uninstall and reinstall MyColours then click on the icon for Artist edition again and when My Colours opened there it was!  The lovely theme we've had such a hard time installing.

Good Luck! hope this helps the rest of you and it's all in the same place as I found mine. Was really easy once I found it. :D

Here it is everyone! I'm "GarethJensen" btw... forgot my login. lol

First, a very special thanks to Alessandro for contacting me and helping me understand a possible solution.

Here is the solution:

  1. If you truely have the Artist Edition laptop, you will notice that you have a folder on your hard drive called "SwSetup". Within that folder, you will see another folder called "MyColors".This is where the Setup.exe file is. This is where you will also get the theme.
  2. Download a program called "7-zip": http://www.7-zip.org/
  3. Install MyColors and 7-Zip.
  4. After both are installed, go back to the Setup.exe located in the "SwSetup/MyColors" folder. Right click it and you will find a submenu called "7-zip". Inside that menu is the "Open Archive" option.
  5. Pull out the [0] file and put it on your desktop. Then, open the archive again using the technique in step 4.
  6. Open the "Data" folder, then the "OFFLINE" folder, then the "33860B4E" folder, then the "70BF2C18" folder.
  7. You have found the "HP Artist Edition 2.MyColors" file! =P But you're not done yet! Drag it onto the desktop and double click on it to install it.
  8. Now, go back to the 7-Zip window and go up a directory with the button with the green arrow and folder until you are back in the "OFFLINE" folder. Go into the "mFileBagIDE.dll" folder, then open the "bag" folder.
  9. You have found the "LogonStudio-HPArtistEdition2.msi" file which changes your logon screen theme!
  10. Enjoy!
