Features of JoeUser.com

The world's first blogging community

What makes JoeUser.com special? There's zillions of websites on the net that let you have your own personal space to write down your thoughts and views on things. So why would someone choose JoeUser.com as their home for their blog?

JoeUser.com is a website that allows individuals to sign up for free web pages that include tools for easily adding user-created articles to their pages (blogs).  What makes JoeUser.com special are the features it has built in to enable users to get their blogs read by others.

JoeUser.com has a host of unique features that allow it to operate as both a blog site and as a news site:

·         Auto-Syndication. The Newest articles are automatically displayed on every JoeUser.com page

·          Peer review. Readers can give particularly well written article bonus points by rating it as “insightful”. High scoring articles automatically receive additional coverage and syndication on the site.

·          Home page featuring. Articles on JoeUser.com can be featured onto the site’s home page by JoeUser’s editors allowing the home page itself to act as an on-line magazine complete with multiple categories of stories on virtually any topic.

·          Audience Control. Bloggers have control over who can see their articles (just themselves, everyone, or selected users and groups such as friend and family only).

·          Blog Groups.  Users can band together and form blog groups in which the combined articles of individual members form the content of a new blog site within JoeUser.com.

·          Sub-Domains. Each blogger receives their own sub-domain such as Frogboy.joeuser.com.

·         Per-Article statistics.  Users can see how many people have viewed their article, what websites are linking to their article and even directly jump to the pages that are linking to them to see what they are saying.

·         Forum Syndication.  Blogs can optionally be syndicated to various forums on JoeUser.com, PoliticalMachine.com, TotalGaming.net, WinCustomize.com, and elsewhere depending on the content.

·         Popular blog site and article tracking.  The top blog sites, top articles and top bloggers are automatically listed on every page so that as users gain popularity through their articles, they continually gain additional coverage.

·         Blog Ranking. Users are able to see where their blog ranks amongst the tens of thousands available to see how they match up.

JoeUser.com is completely free to use, has no pop-up advertising, and is easy to use.  When you write your blogs on JoeUser.com, odds are other people will read them. They get syndicated onto every site. It is designed so that each user's articles have a chance of being read by others. The users who write articles that get the most points receive more coverage across the site.

That is the JoeUser.com difference, your blog is more than just an isolated personal page. It's part of a community too. It's a place where you can share your views and opinions and thoughts with the world in such a way that the world will see it.

Why is there not a link to www.sirpetermaxwell.com on the homepage, Brad?

Bloggers have control over who can see their articles (just themselves, everyone, or selected users and groups such as friend and family only).

I didn't know that. That is a good feature

This whole site is amazing! It hands down beats any other options out there. Nowhere else do you achieve the sense of fellowship like JU. The features are outstanding and simple to learn. My father has even started blogging and 2 months ago, he had no idea what a blog was.

Thank you so much, Brad and moderators. You give us a chance to voice and be heard. You give us a place to learn and teach.

I don't quote understand the sub-domain part. Is this something already in place? Just curious.

i found joeuser.com totally by accident while trying to determine whether others were as concerned as i about google's incredible power over the fate of online businesses--using google, of course--which led me to an article you'd posted on the subject.

i now consider that to be one of the most fortunate accidents of my recent life. because of all the truly excellent features you've mentioned, joeuser has greatly expanded my horizon and enhanced my appreciation and enjoyment of the net.  for that i am unable to sufficiently thank you.  joeuser.com is a wonder in the best sense of the term.

Ah, gotcha Brad. I was confused by what you meant. Thanks for clearing that up.

Maybe, if it's "finished", you should update "The Scoring System" link?

Thanks for the detailed update. Very useful.

Certainly a commendable site where people can pen down their thoughts on anything under the sun. Only thing is not many from my part of the world know about it or should I say, they haven't even heard that there's something called blogging, so maybe it will be sometime before this gains some sort of popularity here.

It is a shame that neither JU as a whole or any of the individual bloggers here were nomintaed for this year's Blog awards over at Wizbang... Guess we need to elevate our game for next year.

You forgot a feature. The admins tolerate a broad range of political opinion.
I love ju. The sidebar giving indication of what other people are writing is excellent promo. The ability to have a list of favoruites is also good promo and makes it easier for me to navigate to where I want. And I love the rankings. It's great to know who's reading you.

However...

>Per-Article statistics. Users can see how many people have viewed their article, what websites are linking to their article and even directly jump to the pages that are linking to them to see what they are saying.

I think this is a great feature, but I actually don't quite understand how to interpret this information in the way that it is presented. I have often thought it would be good if there were a site explaining this and also explaining who are the admins and what are their conditions of use (that last thought was prompted by some controversial bloggers who got themselves banned recently).

yES, joeUser is a great site. I enjoy this site a great deal and I agree with you that it has features that make it unique. I also feel that the JoeUser blogging community is essentially interested in the World around and are willing to discuss without mincing words.

Draginol owns Stardock, so has plenty of bandwidth lying around for side projects like Joeuser.

Blog Navigator works with Joe User as well as other blog systems.
