Windows highlight colour in WB - how to change?

I have installed a theme combination that I am happy with (Laguna + Miricla mix),

I changed the colour of both to beige.

The only problem is that the Windows highlighting colour has become too dark. I want to change it.

What can I do?  See example below. The highligth colour is dark purple! I want a pale shade.

The only way to change the shadow on per pixel frames is to edit the images themselves skin in SkinStudio cordelia, there is no other way.

Thank you Lightstar. I thought there might have been a Windows property to change.

What is the name of the property that I should change in Skin studio?

recoloring a skin is going to affect all the colors in a WB, In the Colors section in SKS use the Selected Item color to adjust.

Sorry, just woke up here cordelia.  You were refering to the highlight, I thought your were talking about the frame shadow.  The problem is on your highlilght though that since you have recoloured and the skin, you have to be happy with the results, there is no way to change the highlight colour in WB.  Try adjusting your colour settings in WB until you get something that is more acceptable to you.  Other than that, you would need to open the skin in SkinStudio and adjust the Selected Item colour.  Problem is if you set it to one colour, when you apply your skin again it may not turn out the way you like, it would be a lot of trial and error since you recoloured the original skin.

You can change that colour in the skin using the change skin system colours on the colours tab.

Find System Colour : Highlight and change it.

The spelling of the system colours is the same spelling as used in old theme files which is why it is US english vs UK english.

I need to ask about two more of these properties:

What is the name of the property for the background of the All Programs section of the start menu (Win 7)

What is the name of the properties for the highlight and text colour for NEWLY INSTALLED programs (which Win 7 highlight...)

The image or the background color?

Thats is an image, no color adjustment, you would have to change the image if the author included one, or make your own if they didn't.

Here is a screenshot to explain which properties I am interested in.

It looks like solid colours, not an image - I think I was unclear - hope this clarifies:

You weren't unclear.

ALL progs BG color can be specified in Start Menu and Taskbar > Start Menu > Left hand Side > More Programs Background > Extra Tab > All Progs list background color > Choose from list.

New app is a color if no image is specified but there is no control for it.. it pulls it from the skin colors as far as I know.. unless, the author has used an image for it, in which case you will need to replace the image or recolor it.

You can find it at Start Menu and Taskbar > Start Menu >Start Menu Popup menu > New Application item.

Make sure you have the treeview 'view' chosen in preferences to broowse thru the sections... altho I think it's only available in SKS Pro.

Thanks Vstyler! That's in Skin Studio, right?

I was planning to simply change the property in the System Colours section of Windows...

As described by Neil Banfield above.

I'll fix the actual skin later...  Do you know the name of the properties in the "Change Skin System Colours" dialogue box?

I've tried a few of the ones that I could see, but I had no luck so far.
