Feature for combining themes - in Danger!

Stardock is thinking of dropping the pick & mix themes functionality

If you are a long-term WB user you have probably discovered the option for using a DIFFERENT theme for the taskbar than for the windows. 

This feature works well and is awesomel. :thumbsup: It exponentially increases the number of possible customisation options.

For example, you could use the windows from "Aero Frost" and the taskbar from "Laguna". Great feature, and easy to use.

This settings is available in WB 6 (and WB7 old UI) under the Settings tab - if you haven't seen it, check it out!

But BEWARE - Stardock is thinking of dropping this great functionality!

Therefore if you use this functionality and like it, then please let them know by responding here!

If you check the UI for WB 7 (New UI) you'll find that this feature is NOT available. XO

 

Including it would probably NOT take very long and not be a big deal since it actually DOES WORK PERFECTLY from the old UI.

So please respond to say what you think!

I use it and I feel it should be included in the new WB7.

Anything that expands the ability to customize should be included if possible....after all, that's what this place is about, right?

Great to hear that somebody agrees - come on WB users, check out this feature if you haven't already, and don't forget to post if you'd like to keep it!

If you don't speak up it will disappear!

cordelia0507, one thing to you need to remember is that WB 7 is still beta and some of the final features, which may include those of previous WBs versions may not be 'turned on' yet. 

Will some of the previous features not move forward with WB 7, sure.  Will new features be added, sure.  That is just what happens.  I know the feature that you are talking about, myself, I never used it but then that's just me.

We were not aware that there was much demand for that feature in the new UI.

The old UI will be removed in the next beta which is why there is no way to switch from the new UI to the old (the button in the old is simply there because we had to leave the old UI in for the first betas)

I dont think in all the years ive been here Ive seen a single screenshot of anyone combining a different taskbar with another theme, not sure how popular a feature it is \ would be. Not really sure why anyone would want to actually. If its easy enough to keep then sure, I would be for it, if not.. probably not.

 

Just my opinion on it of course |-)

This is off topic but - if you right click your desktop, go to Properties, click on the Appearance tab, then click on Windowblnds (just above Advanced and Effects) --- it will open up the old UI instead of the new one. I'm still on XP.

just wondering how anyone on the outside would know what is to be (or not to be) in the final version. seems legit to voice an opinion if one has a preference???

It is legitimate to have an opinion and to raise a question. I'm glad Cordelia0507 {may I call you 0507?} did so, and tried to enlist support.

I'm rather disappointed in the turn out.

I use this feature because I like to keep the taskbar vertically on the screen. At least 50% of themes cannot do this properly. <X3 :thumbsdown: :(

So I remember which themes are properly customised for vertical and use one of them for the the tastbar.

Then I use another for the windows, since the compatible ones are not always the one I like the best.

At the moment I use a combo....

What a cool feature!  If not for this thread, I may never have known about it!  I can see it coming in handy with the use of textures, as some taskbars/menus or window border/titlebars are better suited for them than others. Sometimes I just like the start button better from one than another even if the coloring is similar.

Oh my gosh! I am SOOO glad that this feature is back!

I had given up about this because of the negative answers earlier. Was feeling pretty negative about WB.

I just came here to check something else when I discovered this.


People, check this feature, it is very good!

You can use one skin for the taskbar and another for the windows. 

Then you colour it in a colour that you like - voila, you have things exactly as you want.

Wow, I never knew this feature existed. Now I can use those Vista themes I like

but whose start menus don't work well in Win7. Thanks a lot cordelia0507!

Note: Am I correct in assuming the taskbar includes the start menu as well?
