Multiplayer ala CIV3 In The Future?

Perhaps this has already been a question, but will this be a future enhancement?

The game is written as a single player only game by design.
There are no plans that I know of to make it multiplayer (Brad has also stated this).

Maybe in a GalCiv2, but not in any incarnation of GalCiv.

I did wonder about doing a FreeCiv to Civ2 type conversion, but its too much work for me, and I don't know anyone else who plays GalCiv, so it would be a bit pointless.

And I think GalCiv is very tied to the personalities of the AIs, and it wouldn't be the same without them.

I was just curious! But what is this about GalCiv 2? Are there currently plans for the next version? Or is this wishful thinking?

P.S. - Even without multiplayer support, the game is incredible, though I still stink...but getting better!
