Is Entrenchment worth the extra loot?

So i just got SOaSE the other day and am loving every bit of it. I was just wondering if i should get the Entrenchment expansion already of just play some more til i get better then go for it.

I read something about starbases and have no clue what that is. They then said it was only if you had Entrenchment. So made me curious.

Entrenchment is definately worth it.

I'm a developer of the game so obviously I'm going to say it is worth it but even still, I truly believe its a much better game with Entrenchment. We've also combed through countless feedback from players and the concensus seems to be that it is a much better game.

Here is a short list of new features: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/342094

Here is a overview of some of the new units: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/342096

Next, keep in mind that all the most popular mods are now Entrenchment only. This is partially because with Entrenchment we were able to add a host of new modding capabilities that most modders like to take advantage of.

Finally, if you want to play a lot of multiplayer on Ironclad Online, most games are being played by Entrenchment players so it'll be easier to get in a game if you also have Entrenchment.

However, should you decide not to try Entrenchment, don't worry we are still upgrading and adding content to the original Sins. We just released a major update last week (1.18) and a hotfix this week (1.181). And most importantly, I still think the original is quite fun!

I would go that far to say not only that Entrenchment is worth buying but its also worth preordering Diplomacy too!

By preordering you are automatically included into Beta program which should start soon(ish)!

Plus!

I think it is DUTY of every true PC gamer to support Ironclad!

Officially the best dev team today, yesterday and most probably tomorrow too... (if they don't exchange their souls and passion for some stinky mega $$$)

Cool deal. I will be getting that then in a few days. I did read up about the star base and that's exactly what i wanted for a few of the games i've played.

You mean, if they don't Blizzard out?

MjrK: You won't be disappointed! Entrenchment has added to SoaSE by leaps and bounds! Also, the next micro-expansion, Diplomacy, I am pretty sure requires Entrenchment to play. If you play Vasari, you should know the Kostura Cannon gets a HUGE bonus in Entrenchment - it stabilizes phase space at the target world! You can ride a fleet in on it's wake so long as the world they leave from is stabilized as well :).

I would get entrenchment and learn how to use the new units, structures, and technologies introduced in that and then learn the same for the diplomancy stuff when it comes out separately, instead of having to do that all at once.

But that's just me.

Entrenchment is defianlty worth geting but Diplomacy wont be worth a damn when it comes out.  theres no point in being diplomatic in a game thats all about war.  total waste of time for this addon.

I just bought it, i havent gotten to play it just yet tho.

How do you get a starbase tho? Does it have to be researched first?

And i may get diplomacy...maybe. i like the diplomatic approach but a.t.m it doesn't seem like there are too many enemies who want to be diplomatic either.

yes you have to research it, tier 2/ use of frigate colonizer for Vasari, tier 3/ special constructor ship for TEC and Advent, Pirates get one at the start of the game (oh wait nevermind the pirate starbase that is only in the Distant Stars Mod)

After getting the neccessary tech and building the special constructor if you're TEC or Advent, you have to pay to have the constructor construct the star base wherever you want it. Then you need mucho credits, metal, and crystal to upgrade it however you want. The upgrades aren't neccessary, but if you want your star base to actually be able to withstand a fleet, they are needed.

Well to bad, I wont be going any where, and I will continue to beat this horse for a long time.  Diplomacy will have no place in this game wait and see.

Diplomacy may have espionage. I think. That would be relevant

@Hyrim- Dont feed the Troll:troll:

I don't think he can really be classified as a troll since it seems as though he truly feels strongly about it and isn't simply arguing for the sake of arguing. I don't see any problem with that.

As it happens I wonder myself about how usefull the diplomacy expansion will be since as it is there dosn't seem to be much use for it. However I trust that the devs would see that and try and make it so that diplomacy is a lot more neccesary or beneficial in the expansion.

I am siding with Darksxx on that one. But its mostly that i never encountered a diplomacy system i had any fun with.

Anyway, i am buying Diplomacy (preordered) because Ironclad made a stellar game and is still supporting it.
