ObjectDock Tabbed Dock Tab Labels

improvement suggestion

SUGGESTION / REQUEST

When using ObjectDock Plus with a tabbed dock at the top of the screen, the design of all styles is to have the tab labels show at the top edge, but then to move when hovered or clicked (and the dock opened). Since the behavior is typically to open at the last tab used, it is problematic to hover the dock open, then scurry down to the now moved tabs to select the correct tab for the current use.

It would be helpful to create styles for these which show the tabs as currently done when the dock is closed/collapsed, but then have the tab labels stay at the top edge when the dock opens. That way your cursor arrow is already where it needs to be to click the tab needed (assuming you hovered the dock at that point to start with).

Have you noticed the setting "Automatically activate mouseovered tab when using autohidden tabbed docs"?

It's in the configuration window, "General" on the left side, "Miscellaneous Option" button, "General Miscellaneous Options" section.

Not exactly what you're looking for but pretty much eliminates your issue - whatever tab you mouseover to unhide the dock becomes the active tab.

Or, if you don't set your tabbed dock like Dave said above, you could always just mouse-over the tab you wish to activate and click on the tab.

Also, clicking on the tab will unhide the dock and display the clicked tab.

Although I never set the mentioned mouseover effect, perhaps it was the default...as it used to work that way, and then stopped. Now, even if I click on a tab, it still opens at the last used tab. System stuff I imagine. Thanks for the suggestions. Seems I'm getting inconsistent results. That's with Plus on Vista Home Premium. I now have the freebie version on my XP computer...

New issue:  Two monitors (laptop). When I leave ObjectDock on the laptop monitor, it works normally. When I place ObjectDock on the external monitor, it works normally EXCEPT it leaves the separators back on monitor 1 (haha) when placing dock on left edge. When placing in other positions, separators are either mid-screen (on monitor 2) or not visible. The only time the separators show IN the dock, is when I leave it all on monitor 1. So, I just removed the separators...which I didn't need anyway...but thought I'd mention it. More system stuff on 2nd puter perhaps?
