Ready vs. Available

What's the difference?

What's the difference between the "Ready" and "Available" status types?

Also, is there a status type that allows your friends to chat with you, but also indicates that you are not available to play a game?

ready means you're ready to play

available means you're looking for a relation... wait no. available means you're not "ready" but willing to maybe play if you get a cool PM

Are you included in other player's searches for both status types?  Can players chat with you in either status type?

For now, yes to the first.  As we add more users, this may change.

Yes to the second.

It might be nice to have the following:

  • Ready: Looking to play a game, available for chat, included in other player searches
  • Available: Not actively looking to play a game, available for chat (convince me to play), not included in other player searches
  • Unavailable: Not actively looking to play a game, not available for chat, not included in other player searches

I'd like to have a status type that allows me to chat with my gaming buddies, but keeps me out of other player's searches.

That is the plan to switch over to this once we have more users.  Currently we are including Available in the searches to increase the number of users returned.

On the topic of Ready vs Available. For several times now, I was invited into a chat room with only one or two players actually responding to the initiating invite in the first place. One player (whose name escapes me at this time) commented about how players shouldn't set themselves up as Ready if they really aren't.

I was wondering about the possibility of having the Ready to Play client automatically set a player to "Available" (from the default "Ready") if they haven't interacted with the client for a set amount of time. This would be similar to how many instant messaging clients automatically set a user to an "away" status when they're idle for a time.

SyDaemon,

We have "detect idle" on our feature list and will implement that in a version very soon.
