Forum Malfunction?

Can't reply to some threads.

Ok, I've noticed on more then a few threads now when I scroll to the bottom to leave a reply I can't. I've seen 5 or 6 threads where it cuts off in the middle of someone's response and the "quick reply" box isn't there. Anyone else having this issue? It hasn't been a big deal as of yet but I can see it will be when there is a thread about game mechanics that I'll absolutely have to reply to.

This happens to me all the time when browsing the forums through Impulse which uses IE. It's pretty random on which threads it's going to happen on. When I browse through IE only (not Impulse) it happens there as well. When I switch over to Firefox and go to the actual website it works fine.

This only happens to me in FireFox, not Internet Explorer, opposite of what Charvel1 claims.  In any case, this has been an issue for over a year in the GalCiv2 forums.  Stardock's web/forum design team always seems to have their hands full taking care of the multitude of Stardock sites.  I'm sure it's on their list of things to fix.

There was an official bug-reporting thread for forum/website issues, I'll see if I can find it.

Edit

Here it is:

It's a very old bug in Firefox itself. Amazingly it seems they've finally fixed it but won't incorporate it until 3.6. (sigh)

There is an issue with IE as well where pasting in junk HTML generated by MS Word can break the page rendering at the start of a post (rather than at an arbitrary page length as the OP noted, regardless where that winds up), but it's easily remedied by editing the post or not copy/pasting directly from Word.

In the case of this issue it tends to be replies by particular users who frequently do that that are at issue, rather than the thread just being really long. If you see one of these such threads, report it and a moderator will edit the offending post.

I've got one Kyro.

Elemental: Internal debates made external https://forums.elementalgame.com/352821/page/22

The last post I can start to see is on the 22nd page. I see the name Teddy Bär and then I can't see anything below that.

Thanks for letting us know what to look for. I'll try not to copy so much from wordpad now as I do that quite a bit as well.

on of the star mods (startreck, or stargate or something) has this issue on the OP... and so for me, non of the pages are visible... :-)

Use Firefox, the problem doesn't appear... Reason can be found at https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/365439 reply 7 from Kryo ... solution is never copy and past a post write in Word...

Am using Firefox ... and have never copy and pasted from word ... the pages keep trying to load something from Google Analytics ...

SOLUTION: Once the page is loaded I STOP it, then the missing information appears ... and I can post again!!!! After 2 days!!

Never experienced this in the 2 years I've been here ... can this be fixed? Or do I have to go through this solution everytime I want to post something at this forum?
