Why Cant We Rename Replays? (easily)

The only way to rename replays atm is to save them, go to the my replays folder, and rename them manually. Why cant we just have the option to name them when saving them like in the beta?

Is it really so hard to go the replay folder and rename them there?

I'd rather GPG were working on meaningful additions to the game than a feature that will save 30 secs of time.

No.1 - Lots of new/not so technologically advanced players will have no idea how to rename replays.
No.2 - If you dont minimized/tab out of Demigod after every game, and rename your replays manually then you will get a build up of replays with all very identical names...and you wont remember which one is which.
No.3 - Its not a "feature". You cant put on the back of the game, "Buy Demigod now! Now with extra name-your-replays feature built in!" Its a very basic addition that even the oldest RTS tend to have.

The funny thing is, in the beta when you could save replays (but not watch them) you could actually rename them :D So they already have this feature somewhere..

It just gives the game that lack of polish feeling and can be quite annoying:

Remind me which one was that awesome game I played the other day...

I'm hopefully we'll get something like that added.  I know what you mean, though.  I had to watch several replays just to find one that I was looking to post.  It wasn't that hard and I think Polynomial posted a guide on how to do it for those who don't know how in the meantime.

Its not hard at all, but then it is not hard to ensure implemented features have near complete functionality

Donesnt seem like it would be that hard so that when you hit save replay at the end of a game, it lets yo uedit the name then... I mean eally how long could it take to make that happen?

Meh....I'll be the lone voice. I just don't see the need. Would it be easier and faster...sure i won't discount that.

But is everyone saving every game they play? Does the greater community have a folder full of replay's and has to fish through them to fin the one they want? Maybe...i don't know....I'm not against this idea, just seems GPG's time could be better spent on other things...

Right click and rename. I doubt there are folks that devoid of inteligence to figure that out.

But whatever....its a trivial thing to argue about.

Get 1.2 finished and the two new DG's in and then spend time on smaller details...thats all i'm saying.

A lot of people like to save a decent amount of games. And over time it builds up (like the SS i showed you...thats only 3 days worth of playing I think).

I dont think you understand that this feature of renaming replays has already been implemented in the game before. All they have to do is put it back in. Its not hard, and would take very little time, and is definately worth it. It wont delay 1.2 or anything - its such an easy feature it put in it really isnt something that will delay or destract them from anything else.

Agreed....Just annoying have a folder full of identical replay names :\

You'd be surprised.

It can't be that hard to implement.  When it generate the name, simply pop up a text box, pre filled with the generic name, and let the user edit it. Save and send that information to the saving algorithm as the name of the file to save as.  I mean, the code to actually save a replay is a million times harder compared to that fairly minor thing there.  And I can almost guarentee most of the work on the new DG's is just model work, and those guys don't likely touch the functional code...

Fair enough. It would then seem it just a case of re-enabling what is already there.

That would be sad...really sad. I could undertsand plenty of PC users not knowing how to do that, but a gamer? Maybe if their Canadian....(J/K with RyanMidd)
