What OS are you running?  I thought Vista had the capability to do that.

Hi Fulton.

I think the easiest way to accomplish this would be to first use the Hide Desktop Icons feature.

Then use Object Dock removing all but a single icon from the dock.  Increase the icon size to a large proportion, set the dock for transparent, then position it where you like.

Simple enough you think?

Then use Avedesk. You can really customize it from there.

You can have one huge honking (literally) icon the size of your monitor if you want

OK, I guess I'll be the one to ask.  :)

For what purpose do you want only one big icon on the desktop?

I'd imagine it's for one enormous cursor Rosco!

I've often wondered if it were possible to have one (larger) multi-purpose icon that could have multiple tasks/shortcuts assigned to it?

Now that would certainly be convenient and eliminate a lot of desktop clutter. :)

That wasn't a brain fart... this is a brain fart.  Oh, and my rig has been 100% puke free since that installation hassle with my new CPU... March 09, I think.  'Tis going great guns.

I was thinking Dolly Parton... press the left one to launch 'My Computer... press the right one to launch "My Documents'...the belly button to launch 'Control Panel'... and her butt for the 'Recycle Bin.

:-"

Like CircleDock? http://circledock.wikidot.com/

Like CircleDock?

No, not really.  What I'm thinking about are icons that could have several assignable areas where you could right click to enter the paths of folders and shortcuts of your choosing.... and maybe be resizable.  I don't know if it could be done or not as I know nothing about scripting, but if the icon has toolbar type buttons incorporated into the design, you could have just the one (slightly larger) icon to manage several shortcuts/folders, etc.

Just a thought. :)

You can do that with DX :)

I am aware of that, but it would mean loading another proggie (same with circle dock)... not that system resources are an issue for me, but they might be for others.

No, what I'm thinking is an ico file that could have several assignable areas... but being I've not seen it before, maybe it isn't do-able.
