[Bug] Crash During Intro

Don't hit a button early

I like the Intro, I do. It's a well placed joke by Stardock and I watch it every time I start a game. I wondered though if you could skip past it by hitting the button "Enter or Space" to get to the main menu before the Intro ends. Sadly if I hit the button early, or click my mouse, the game CTD's to desktop. I have to wait at least until the yellow lettering appears before I can hit a button and get to the main menu. Hitting a button before then will cause a CTD Every Time. I've tested it and can do it every time if I so chose. Can everyone do this? I'm only running Elemental on one machine so I don't know if everyone can do this or if it's a local bug.

Post your debug and dxdiag

Also, try running with the /skipintro paramater, or go into your prefs.ini (my games/elemental) and set SkipIntro = 1

Here's my DxDiag:

How do I post a debug log? Oddly enough I've never done that before.

Here's my System Specs:

  • Intel Quad Core i7 Cpu 920 @2.67 GHz (Shows as 8 processors but it's only 4 Dual Cores)
  • 3.99 GB (4 Gigs) of Ram
  • NVidia GeForce GTX 280 1 Gig Video Memory on the card (soon to be dual SLI)
  • DvD/CD Burner 20x20x12x
  • Blu Ray Burner 8x12x16x Speeds
  • Realtek High Definition Audio
  • 2x Western Digital 1 Terabyte Hard Drives
  • Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Version 2003 Service Pack 2

So I take it everyone else can skip past the intro at any time without a CTD? If I wait 5 or 6 seconds and then try to skip it I go to the main menu just fine and can play as normal.

@BoogieBac: Thanks for the quick reply. I already edited the .ini to skip the intro when I found out I couldn't skip it by clicking early.

Edit: Ok, I just fired it up, hit the intro and immediately clicked my mouse...and went straight to the main menu with no problems at all.

I swear I tested it 6 or 7 times in a row before I made my first post in this thread.....LoL. That, ladies and gentlemen, is why it's called a Beta. False alarm, my bad.

Sorry for the Double Post.

I've been getting this too, no worries.  It usually happens at the very beginning of the intro, and its more consistent if you click really fast.

I've actually had to make myself wait until I can see the video start to play.  Pretty reliable way to simply have the game not start up otherwise.

Raven, just a side note - you should "upgrade" your OS imo....XP x64 is not the best choice to be honest. Vista x64 with SP1 is much better...:) [Especially if you work on it with vlite. Vlite can do wonders...my x64 Vista is hella fast, and it's only a 1.5Gb install now compared to the ~4Gb original install size. - You basically remove the unnecessary parts with it. Yeah..it works like a Linux install...;)]
