RedNickedNick might be appropriate ;p

I haven't been caught in this round of nickname stuff, but I did get the periods stripped from my name a long while ago. So long ago, it was either before the forum karma or before I noticed it.

Formally, I want the karma stuff to go away, but because it is here, I try to give 'in the spirit' of the feature design. This business of a nick change destroying a karma record is not just a frustration for the user with the new nick, it means that anyone who gave such a user some karma was wasting his or her time. Negative karma's an even sillier idea, but I'd give some to that 'functionality' if I could.

This is totally absurd.  There can't be that much duplication, and if there is, who's fault is that?  I like hanging out here, but I have about reached my tolerance level for b$##@&!t

I must say, if I ever do have to change nicks again, you guys have certainly given me choices!!!

Most of the issues are from things like people who have merged their accounts in the past, people having multiple accounts with the same username and not realizing it, or recreating an account because they no longer had access to the email address they initially used.  In cases like these, you won't have to change your username, I just need to double check everything, which gets time consuming.

If you think this may be the case, send an email to [email protected] with the title "Nickname" with any email addresses you may have used in the past, as well as your full name.  I'll check out the situation and get back to you as soon as I can.
