Keep Objectdock on desktop

But how?

Howdy experts!

I have tried many things and maybe I just am missing something, but I just seem not to get to keep the Objectdock on my desktop.

What do I want? I want to keep the dock on my desktop all the time. When a window is opened I do not want to see it. So only on the desktop.
Now I have set 'Keep on bottom' but when I go the desktop via the icon, it is not there. I must click or hover the taskbar to get it up again.

What are the correct settings to do what I want? I have tried them all, but no luck sofar.

I use OD+ on Vista

I'm going to take it you are talking about the zoomer dock.  I use the setting 'Hide in backgound when not in use' and it's always on the desktop. :sun:

Thanks for your reply.
But is your setting not supposed to dissapear when not in use? When I do that, it is also gone when I do this.
Strange thing is that it does not go away when I close my windows to the taskbar, only when I visit my desktop by the desktopicon in the taskbar.

configure object dock

general tab

miscellaneous options

prevent docks set to 'always on top/bottom' from hiding when WinKey+D is pressed

positioning tab

uncheck reserve edge

interaction = keep on bottom

delay = disabled (slider all the way to the right)

@Bichur:
These settings I already have.

So I did it the right way, but how come the dock dissapears when I use the desktopicon?

the desktopicon?

which desktopicon?

and Odock free or plus?

if plus, I think you have to do it for each dock

No, on my computer, the one in the taskbar (near the startbutton, you know, on the left side).

When I want to hop over to my desktop and use the dock, it is gone while the settings are correct. It is an clean install, no extra's added or whatever could make the dock disfunction like this.

Like I said, it does work when I go to my desktop by closing the windows (or resize etc), but not when I go directly to my desktop.

At this moment, I use only 1 dock.

I could duplicate this with a tabbed dock. Showing the desktop causes it to completely hide,tabs and all. Changing the setting in positioning to "Tabs always on top" keeps the tabs visible. I don't use zoomers or tiles much anymore,so I don't know if that will help with those.

the quick launch button for desktop

just tried it, seems to interact different than WinKey+D or right clicking on taskbar and choosing show desktop

try WinKey+D (or WinKey+M) or right clicking on taskbar and choosing show desktop

but not when I go directly to my desktop.

it's not actually going directly to desktop, it's more like masking everything else by bringing up an overly of the desktop background/icons

Thanks allot guys and Bichur for the explaination. Did not know that about the desktopicon and makes it clear why it does not work. Shame, because it is the easiest way to go to the desktop, but I do not think I would die any second earlier because I have to use WinKey+D or M.

A big thanks for the fast help!
