[Feature Request] Available to Unavailable on idle

So I've been seeing folks show up in my list now marked as Available (and Ready also!) but when I've tried to initiate games (ad admittedly off times) there's no response to the game request--I assume everyone is still sleeping in :)

Would there be any way to set it so that upon (configurable? tied-to screensaver trigger?) period of inactivity you're automarked unavailable?

Bolange,

Note that you want to detect system idle and set person to unavailable, but that gets tricky?  What if they want to see who invited them when they walk to the bathroom?  How long after the system goes idle?

I'm flexible on that.  User configurable, tied to screensaver activation, whatever.  Users could, of course, turn auto-away off if they like too

EDIT:  Part of the issue may be that some of the vocabulary is unclear. My interpretation is:

"Ready" -- I'm actively soliciting a game (in which case I'd probably actually be in game hooking up w/ random folks)

"Available" -- I'm doing something on my PC and would be open to playing a game if people wnat to organize

"Unavailable" --- I'm busy or not interested in gaming (in which case I'd probably just close ready to play)

How *should* we be using it?

That sounds about right.  You should probably move out of Ready to Play status if you are walking away from the computer, but if you are only going to be gone a few minutes then maybe not?  This is something we are going to have to iron out with user feedback over time.

You defined status almost exactly as we did on our FAQ! :-)

Thx for the FAQ link, missed it before.  Anyway, unless R2P can be brought up in game (like the impulse or steam overlays) then Ready seems to be sort of redunant with Available.  If I'm open to a game then I'll mark myself available but if I'm ready to play then in all likelyhood I"m going to check r2p to see if anyone is around and, if not, hop in game fairly quickly--I doubt I would sit at my desktop for 5 or 10 minutes as opposed to taking my chances with the random community.  Once I"m in game, however, I'd still like to be contacted by potential r2p matches as they're supposed to be a better exeperience than rolling the dice w/ the public.  Any plans for an in-game overlay (or even to replace the in-game impulse overlay)?

Hi,

We already have an in-game overlay, but currently we only use it with our titles.  In the future we may integrate the chat for our in-game overlay (the one we use with Demigod).
