Online Multiplayer Compatability -- will you be able to see normal Sins and Entrenchment games?

If I remember correctly, the original plan for Entrenchment was that people with Entrenchment would be able to see Regular Sins games and then be able to join them and Entrenchment just wouldn't operate, or maybe the idea was that everyone could see all of the games and if someone without Entrenchment joins, it plays as regular Sins, or perhaps hosts could check off whether or not to allow them to join.

Anyway, the regular-Sins-Entrenchment split has divided the already tiny online multiplayer community.  What will Diplomacy do to it?

Will people who have BOTH Diplomacy and Entrenchment be able to see Diplomacy-only, Entrenchment-only, and regular Sins games?  Will people who only have Diplomacy but not Entrenchment be able to see Diplomacy-Entrenchment, Entrenchment only, and regular Sins games?

Will having Entrenchment be required as a prerequisite for installing Diplomacy?

I am curious as well.

This seems like an un-solvable conundrum to me.

Will Diplomacy contain Entrenment units?

Though, it obviously has been solved, or a this expansion would not have been made.

I think it is pretty much consensus among players that it is a Good Thing® to have a single lobby, and pleople with Entrenchment being able to join both Sins and Entrenchment games. Same goes for the upcoming Diplomacy expansion.

I believe that Diplomacy will require Entrenchment to be installed, and will not work otherwise, but I have never read any statement confirming or denying it.

If any dev can please comment on those questions, I would like very much to hear.

As I think about it, when you go to play Entrenchment, you don't launch the regular Sins program, but rather Entrenchment as a separate .exe.  So will Diplomacy also be it's own Diplomacy.exe?  What if someone wants to play with both Diplomacy and Entrenchment, will there have to be an EntrenchedDiplomacy.exe?

Yes, Entrenchment is required for Diplomacy.

...This micro-expansion will require the full versions of Sins of a Solar Empire and Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment to play.

Sins of a Solar Empire: Diplomacy is a micro-expansion and requires the full version of Sins of a Solar Empire and Entrenchment to play.

Taken from the Store page.

My guess would be that they will make it just like entrenchment, having a separate .exe to play. Since the multiplayer aspect of the game isnt its strongest selling point, I assume they won't be spending the time coding ICO to allow cross expansion play. You'll probably just have to exit and load a different expansion anytime you need to play an entrenchment only game or a regular sins game. And because of the requirement of entrenchmnet to play diplomacy, there wont be any non entrenchment diplomacy games.

I could be wrong though, but as of now thats my best guess.

Unless we get a dev post to the contrary, we can only presume that diplomacy will work like Entrenchment, and be its own executable.  You'll be able to see entrenchment and vanilla games, but you'll have to boot entrenchment or vanilla respectively to join them.  As others have mentioned, we already have confirmation that entrenchment will be a prereq for diplomacy.
