A problem and a few suggestions

I've only used this program for about half an hour but here are some of my thoughs.

The Problem

I don't really play multiplayer games the 3 I do play are TF2, Guild Wars and Demigod, in order of the time I spend playing them. So my freinds list is ridiculusly short for impulse (just 1). So I though I'd have a look at the recommended freinds for Demigod and it says there are 0. I add a few of my non guild wars games and find that steam games don't add (no real problem here as I can just use steams community features) and so I added Guild wars and found there were no recommended freinds on that.

I then proceeded to add all 23 games installed on my computer (I don't play them all, I'm just too lazy to unistal : p). Despite this I still could not find a recommended freind to play on any of them. The only recommended freinds I can find are for Gal civ 2 and Sins. Is this simply because the user base is too small, or a matchmaking problem?

 

Edit: Actually just now I checked Demigod and it now can find freinds to play against (so maybe theres no problem).

I have not actulally started to play a game through this yet but these are a few Idea just from what i've seen.

Suggestion 1: More options for selecting Geographic regions

I think it would be really useful to add aditional geographic areas into the europe subgroup. For example EU (Great Britian), EU (France), EU (Germany). As although lag is not too much greater when playing against people from the conteint it is slighly higher and the can be a language barreir. And ultimatly I would prefer playing against other Brits (just because there is less of a lag and a language issue). So it would be nice have an additional filter to find freinds who are closer to me and then failing that those who are on the contient.

 

Suggestion 2: Drag and drop piroties under the "configure your play stlye" window

 

This window is slightly irriating to use as if you click on a piroitory it drops from the right column to the left. Once in the left it cannot be easily put back into the list without pressing the reset button. Which resets it back to its original form. So if you wanted to change you "play stlye" options you pretty much have to clear the list and start again.

Where as if you were to allow them to be lifted and dropped into a new position in the right hand column allowing you to change your prioties much more easily.

 

Suggestion 3: Allow a Limited veiw of other players profiles

 

What I mean is I don't want to break anyones privacy but it would be really useful to see the recommended freinds "gamer profile" so I get an idea of their internet connection and gaming rig as well as their geographic location. Just simply because I don't trust a computer, and would rather see these details for myself. So I can tell why my computer thinks its a good idea to play with person X.

Also it would be useful see what games my freinds play. For example the solitary freind I have on impluse plays demigod. i know that, but lets just imagine I had a crowded freinds list of say 30 or so. It would be useful to have the computer keep track of what games they play so I don't invite them to play a game there bored of.

Is this simply because the user base is too small, or a matchmaking problem?

The user base is still too small to guarantee matches at this time.

For multiple privacy reasons along with the issues involved in secret sauce reverse engineering we will most likely keep player profiles private.

We plan to have many statistics in the Player Profiles of your friends.  You can see their player profile by right clicking on them in your buddy list and selecting view profile.  For now, it is pretty empty.  Later it will be filled with data we gather from our player stats.
