Games should be autofound

It would be greeat if all the games could be autofound.  I know gamespy did a scan for games, I am assuming by using windowsprograms database.  It would be neat if ready to play could do the same.  If not, custom add for games should start in the start menu where it is often easier to find programs for people.

Trigeminal,

Great feedback.  Yes, we will likely add the auto detect feature for games in the near future.

That is strange, cause it found 'some' of my games in some sort of auto detection. Or did you mean something else?

Currently we know about Impulse games, but non-Impulse games are not automatically detected.

Well, it starts off with your Impulse games, but that's it. It doesn't put all the non-Impulse games on it automatically.

Uh, it does. It found Total War from Steam and CoD4 (CD install) and some others ...

Hm, thinking about it, RTP found all games i had a shortcut for under My Games in Impulse. I have a Tab called OL Games in Impulse; Games in there were not found by RTP. So it seems you are reading the My Games tab in Impulse and not the registrated games, yes?

OK, it makes sense now, thanks.

Maybe, when RTP is first run, ask which tab to include in the setup?

With me it auto found a number of games not just those on impulse. For example it found  Civ 4 and Guild Wars (these were on my start menu). But all the other ones I had to add myself (these weren't).

Intresting that it found your steam games as it won't allow me to add them. Instead of adding the games shortcut it just adds the steam.exe which just boots steam up.

OsirisDawn,

Yes, we do import shortcuts you dragged into Impulse.

MatBerryman2,

You need the command line that Steam uses to tell which game to run (it is a number) in the shortcut.  Sounds like it is getting imported from Impulse correctly, but not the start menu?  Please advise.

Hi,

I'm not sure what you mean by command line. But I think I've figured out what I was doing wrong. I'd left steam in offline mode so....urm my bad.

Sorry for any inconvience.

Ah, so if I´ll add a shortcut of a steamgame, like Empire Total War, into Impulse it will appear in the game list in Read to Play?

Because the shortcuts of steamgames are like:

Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe -applaunch <insert application number here>

So there aren´t real .exe files for those games (or I didn´t find them yet).

Edit:

Ah, found the .exe files for steam games

Steamapps/common/choose your game/mark your .exe

So you are all set then?

Well, adding a game based on HalfLife2 (like Counterstrike or Day of Defeat) will end with Hl2.exe :-/

Nokthra,

Can you please explain a bit more?

Looks like Demigod was autofound for me, but Elemental was not.  Is this due to the "beta" status of Elemental?

Did you install Elemental after Ready to Play?

Yes, I installed Elemental after Ready to Play.  Does the order matter?

Yes, currently we don't have a "refresh my games list" button.  But we are going to add one.
