I'm workin on this graffiti icon pack and I'm stumped. I'm the type of artist that is never pleased with his own work I guess. I wanted to ask the community's opinion. Wich one should I use or should I just trash both ideas and start over again?

3d will have to be visually accurate, each brick on an edge will have to appear real on all its faces.

I like the 2D version. The 3D with the brick pattern will only distract from what I assume is your real art in this work, which is the graffiti.
Ok, then back to 2D. It was easy that way to start. Don't know why I tried to make it so hard.
Please someone tell me it looks alright. I have lost way to much sleep over this.

I like the original concept myself.
No brick. Too busy.
I would try different colors to see what I got. The 'black splatter'..maybe 'red' or 'grey'. Try changing the text colors and shading.
You're original idea was good. I even like the little page curl.
If you want a different background, something not as busy as brick try some vector railraod cars
or 2D vector buildings. Keep the background vector simple and one, maybe two colors at most and put your graffiti on it. You could go nuts with the colors. They don't all have to match.

I agree with Po, the peeling off poster idea was very good - it can be stuck onto a brick wall or other type wall and lots of tags over poster and/or wall too, lots of bright aerosol paint with minimal drip - most taggers are very pro, they develop by going to dangerous inaccessible areas. The icons are the main thing with background a carrier for them. I think your "txt" is very nice.
Sorry guys if I seemed to make everything so difficult. This a first for me so I wanted to go balls out I guess. LOL
So what if I combine the page curled poster with some tears in it. And I think I will have the text with diffrent colors like picture extensions with a green to yellow fade and text extensions with like a red to orange fade.
I like this one the best IMHO. I like it scrabble tile or NOT

You're original is the best. If you want to expand on something, play with the text/font/letters/graffiti.
...and start out making them at the 256 size. Scaling the image smaller is much cleaner than trying to make it bigger.
Yea thanks Po. Don't know why I tried to make it so hard. I'm just going to do the orginal with better looking graffiti.

The image in the middle will change depending on what type of extension is on the bottom. Like .txt is a Document so .mp3 will be like a music note maybe.
That's NOT the original.
You'll lose the most important part, which is the graffiti by making it a sub-part of the icon.
I mean...others like the original better...they have said so...why?...I mean, don't you...

dude .... there are 2 types of skinning .....
1:- for enjoyment .... in this case choose what u like
2:- top notch .... in this case use your all skills and make what the majority likes ....
