Hey dont count out the vasari yet. They may not be an extremely powerful force of well synergised ships or some some group that believes in quantity over quality but thats because they are not trying to win a war they are trying to clear a path. So guerilla warfare will work fine.

Also this doesnt really belong in strategy thread does it?

their not trying to win a war? they started this whole fiasco, although the TEC do owe the Vasari their thanks as They might not have been able to pull together a military response to the Advent had it not been for the Vasari striking first. Theres a hell of alot of space out there, if the Vasari just wants to get through so they can continue running, they should have just realized instead of conquering the Terrans and starting a war between the two they should have just either ran through hella fast (especially considering at that point in time the TEC had no definitive response for the Vasari) or they could have skirted TO space and just went around. But no they invaded, besieged and conquered worlds because their arrogant and think because they were top dog 10k years ago they are now. They were mistaken.

Commodore Koerner enters the debate.

"The Advent are nothing more then a bully on the short bus. Brute force that can crush a kid one on one, but even he cant stand against everyone on the bus at once."

Really the Advent are like the Confederates, their deadly when you pit them in a battle but there isnt enough of them to take on the overwhelming numbers of the TEC eventually they will lose very large numbers of essential personel. When it comes to war of attrition, the side that has the ability to mass produce and heavily outnumbers the other will be the winner. Simply because they can easily replace equipment destroyed and heavy casualties will hardly dent their population.

yeah, but if you DON'T lose large amounts of resc. per battle then it really doesn't matter.

Yes they were mistaken. but can u blame them when they first arived they were winning battles with scouts! by the time the TEC got prepared the vasari was too engrossed in the battle with TEC and now Advent. But the fact remains they are still primarily concerned with gathering resources so they can leave the galaxy cuz whether or not they win they still have to deal with whatever is chasing them.

yes its the TECs fault the Vasari show up on their doorstep and kick it in instead of knocking and asking politely for trade so that they could continue running...Damn TEC always getting in the way.

Why should they ask politely. to translate to a common situation. your playing online its free for all without locked teams. your playing vasari and there is a guy playing TEC who started not too far from you. your about to suggest to him you team up when you realise all he has is tradeports and some how ur scouts are taking his planets(i know its impossible but humour me) would u really consider that guy a worthy ally or would you just kill him and take what he has for your own.

Thats what happened to vasari they opted to kill a weak enemy but the tec were too numerous and before they could be rooted out they developed counter measures.

By the way your underestimating just how large TO space must have been maybe going around just wasnt possible.

Edit: the more i think about it your right. Vasari arrogance put them in this situation but dont underestimate them. they are not war fighters by nature. they have been on the run for so long that guerilla warfare is practically engraved in their DNA. they will find away to come out on top
